Running out of ideas, but maybe delete that unit and re-register? Maybe the data got corrupted.

Turning off Firewall did not work

Unfortuntely I only can connect to AT&T internet (U-Verse and mobile subscriber) there is no other ISP I can try.

Maybe UPMan can chime in on this?

AT&T router can have a firewall setup... Usually should be customer settable...
My router is completely customizable... But I'm not on AT&T so don't ask... Cant help you with that...

Possibly one of the members who uses AT&T U-verse Might be able to help you with that.

Lost In Space

Firmware update released moments ago for BCD436HP and BCD536HP. Details are at:

ProVoice < UnidenMan4 < TWiki

A complete list of changes can be found at:

BCD436HPFirmwareUpdate < UnidenMan4 < TWiki

and

BCD536HPFirmwareUpdate < UnidenMan4 < TWiki

ALL: Be sure to also update Sentinel to 1.06.00. Link is in the release notes.

I have: updated fimware; created a Uniden account; updated the drivers, but I cannot find the hyperlink for the actual ProVoice download on the Uniden page. It does not even show the 436 listed among the download software options.

I want the direct link for the ProVoice upgrade so that I can pay my $50 and be done with this. I thought this process would be straight-forward, but I'm getting a bit pissed off now. The page I'm seeing states something about 404, file or directory not found. Does this mean the Uniden system crashed? I upgraded the firmware and it is showing 1.10.02.

Easy to delete and re-enter. First time I confused the Serial Number and ESN. Realized my mistake. Deleted the erroneous 436 registration and then easily got to the point were I could purchase the ProVoice upgrade key.

You get to the purchase link after your register your scanner with Serial Number and ESN. I believe the Key is derived from your ESN.

This is driving me to drinking. I have searched and searched for this so-called ESN to no avail. I thought it would be in setting and scanner information, but NO.

Here is what I did:
The serial number is on back of the unit. Example: 376Z######## (that is a Z, not a 2)
The ESN is found in the scanner menu. Example: 37626########
The Checksum is found in the same screen as the ESN. It's a 3-digit number.

The last 8 numbers for the serial and ESN are the same.

I hope that helps.

Register your scanner at my.uniden.com, then there will be a link to purchase the upgrade to the right of your scanner in your scanner list.

MENU button
SETTINGS
SEE SCANNER INFO
FIRMWARE VERSION

ESN is on the third line. Checksum on the fourth.

Actually, the ESN and SN are identical except that the ESN has a "26" in place of the Z (likely for hex data storage).

I used Sentinel to find the information when the program is connected to the scanner. Use the update firmware as its in the top line or click INFO to get the lower screen and same with more information. Click cancel to blow it off once you get the numbers.

Thanks All

I am getting closer to downloading, I think. I thought I already registered the radio, but I was wrong.

Now, I have everything done, but don't know how to start the download which is already purchased.

I now have the registration showing under My Account:

User name;
model;
serial number
ESN
Check sum
and the purchase key.

Now what? The downloads are still showing nothing. I received a purchase key from Uniden, but I don't know what to do next. Do I download in Sentinel or what?

You download the update via Sentinel then go to menu settings then scroll down to upgrade and click on Upgrade Provoice then follow it from there.

Crystal Clear ProVoice reception.

I upgraded last night, and am impressed with the audio and decode quality of the signals I'm receiving. My location is very busy with specialty tg's and to listen to them on a quality scanner is awesome. Thanks Uniden!!!

Quick question, does this ProVoice upgrade only work with trunking, or can it do conventional as well? I tried a conventional frequency using one of my portables and the scanner didn't decode it.

ProVoice Key?

You download the update via Sentinel then go to menu settings then scroll down to upgrade and click on Upgrade Provoice then follow it from there.

I have done so, and now it is showing "input ProVoice key? I seen so many different keys and numbers today, I've forgot where this is listed. Since the key I have is listed, it has letters in it. The screen shows 4 followed by an left arrow, cursor, right arrow and 6. What is this all about?

The firmware update isn't the ProVoice feature. The ProVoice feature is a separate, purchasable item that is only available after you upgrade to the latest firmware.

The firmware update allows the scanner to utilize the purchasable, completely separate ProVoice feature, among many other things including that which you want.

If you want the feature you're talking about, upgrade to Sentinel 1.06.00, connect your scanner, and click Update Firmware.

If you refuse to do that, nobody can help you.

Thanks, RandyKuff, mitbr, Voyager, and Jay911.

I was under the mistaken impression that downloading the firmware update locked you into the ProVoice feature. I've already updated to Sentinel 1.06.00, so I'll update the 436's firmware now.

Thanks again!
