There is a FREE firmware update for the BCDx36HP. Everyone needs to do it. Make sure the also have the latest version of Sentinel to 1.06.00
Once you update will be able to add the new Pro Voice $50 feature if you want to. Follow the instructions very carefully step by step. There are already 8 pages here of people that are confused so take it slow. Details are at:

I have completed all of the steps. Now, I am seeing that there is a prompt from the 436HP after going to settings. It is asking for a ProVoice key. I don't know where to find this key. I bought and received a key, but it has letters in it. Where do I find this ProVoice key? I find this entire process to be quite complex and annoying.
I suppose I can call support next week because I'm not receiving any help here.

You seem to have the key.
Just use the "scroll" knob to enter it. Scroll to the first digit, then press "6" to advance to the next and don't forget to enter the "dashes".

I went to menu setting on the radio. I am at the point where I see "input ProVoice Key." However, I have no clue where to find this damn key. I have observed only one key today and it has letters. How do I put a key with letters in the radio?

I haven't purchased the ProVoice key (yet), but others here have described the entry method as being essentially the same as creating an Alpha Tag, ie using the VFO knob to cycle thru to the number or letter you want, then using the 4 or 6 key to step to the next position. Is this what you are doing? It would allow entry of letters obviously.

Now, I will go in and add the ID search function to the Bell County EDACS and set up the ID search. Hopefully, I can start logging and submitting talk groups for Temple PD, my main target since this is where I work.
You don't know how much I appreciate you assistance. I've been waiting on the capability to monitor: SA, Temple, OKC and many more. Wow, this is huge in my opinion.

What is strange and odd is that I upgraded to the latest firmware upgrade for my BCD536HP radio to 1.10.02 and hit the upgrade and it did not ask me to Input ProVoice Key. It just upgraded but no Provoice systems in my area

That is because the firmware up grade and Provoice upgrade are in the same firmware but you access them differently. The firmware upgrade loads as normal to access the Provoice upgrade you go into the scanner menu and look for Provoice upgrade in the menu and then input your payed for key there to enable the feature.

For the ProVoice: On the Scanner: Go to Settings then Upgrade then Upgrade ProVoice then you enter the key that you purchased. using the dial "scroll" knob at the top of the (handheld) scanner to select the digits one at a time.
