Well yes and no, the new PSR-300 handheld and 400 mobile are a little different than the 97 and 2055.

Has anyone noted that the pictures included in this sticky do no correspond with all the other photos of this scanner, including the offical one from GRE? Should they be updated?

Anyone going to be selling these? Those model numbers listed by Kevin are not the same as the PSR-300 and PSR-400 (they will be RS models made by Uniden). Checked Hamstation, Grove, AES, etc web sites, but can't find anyone listing them.

Hey

Hey All,

Universal-radio.com is taking orders for the new GRE scanners. I just ordered my PSR-300. The store is located in Reynoldsburg Ohio. It's a good place, I've bought several antennas from them over the years. Just thought I'd pass that along.

petrol88 is right, the PRO-163 (20-163) and 164 (20-164) are the upcoming Uniden OEM radios. I was hoping that the PSR-300 and 400 would be coming to Radio Shack in the near future. Guess we will have to wait and see.

signal meter

I've never found that feature useful on a scanner. With two-way radio, if you want to give someone a signal report, then yes, but how does it apply to scanning? I could see maybe when evaluating various antennas, but even then, it's what you hear, not see, that's important.
I agree with that, cell phones you need a meter to see if you can make or receive calls.Scanners,if it talks it's a good signal. I have three words; Dig-it-al.

Newbie Questions

Hello,

Trying to decide on a 300, or spending the extra $$$ for the 500.

Looked at the specs some, but I'm a true newbie, and not all that sure i understand what I'm reading.

Would like to ask the following please.

a. does the 300 use the same kind of "dynamic memory" management as the 500 ?

b. Or, is it the old Banks idea, with so many freq's, of one kind only, per bank ?
If so, how many banks, and how many freq's per ?

c. Other than the digital capability, are most other features the same ?

Thanks,
B.

Good to see that it's finally up on the GRE Web page, it was not there earlier.
