PSR-800 Data Decode Threshold Setting

I've posted this in another forum and decided to post it here as well, although the subject has been discussed here to some degree, to get the best answers.........

I've been getting garbled transmissions from our local police department on their P25 system, so
I've lowered the low setting to 50 and raised the high setting to 99. So far,
this seems to have cleared-up most of the transmissions.

The police department....Albany PD in Oregon....just got their system online
last October and I'm sure they're still making adjustments, as they occasionally
say that transmissions are garbled to each other as well.

So, my questions is, while I would rather make incremental adjustments as I go
(which makes more sense), would it be a bad thing to set the low setting to 0 at
least until they get the bugs out of their system and then start raising the low
again until I get garble and then back it off a little and call it good?

The threshold settings determine when the scanner looks for a Control Channel with a lower error rate and how low the error rate has to be before the scanner will accept that CC as a good one. So assuming the error rate is about the same on the Voice Channel, lowering the low setting should result more garbled audio, not less.

The high setting determines how low a CC's error rate has to be before the scanner will lock onto it. If the high setting is too high, the scanner might never find a CC with a low enough error rate.

The best performance should be with the low and high settings not too far apart. My settings are 95 high and 85 low. Of course these settings are for my scanner and the systems I monitor. Your mileage may vary.

Where would access these Data Decode Threshold settings on my PSR 800? I looked on the EZScan software as well as on the scanner to no avail. Thanks

On the Trunked Radio Systems page, select a system that has multiple sites, then select one of the sites.
The setting is at the bottom left of the page.

Redburgundy is correct. You can change the settings on one site or global for that system.
