I am a Technician.

Tried to take the Tech test when Tech Plus was still around 1999'ish, missed 1 question 1st try and several too many the 2nd. Let it go and focused on scanners and MURS, then GMRS license a few years later. About 2007 got the Gordon West Tech Book and CD series and read and read. Took my test and got my license. Just now getting very active at least in a club and ARES. Not alot of time on the air, maybe 10 hours of time... More on echolink than radio I would guess. But have been busy with job and family. When I would be available to be on the air most wouldn't be around.

I was just wondering, what is everyone's class here? Of the (what is it) 700,000 licensed amateur radio operators, roughly only 10% make Extra. I am wondering what is the percentage here on this message board.

Not to be picky, but...

As of December 2011, there were 702.056 licensees and of that number, 126.431 were Extra Class. This makes just over 18% of the amateur population.

But I digress..

I earned my Extra Class ticket in 1995.

General granted yesterday (2/22/12), took the exam at my first hamfest on 2/4/12.

Tech 2001. Studied for general, just need to take the test, but have no pressing need to.

Tech 1993. Never found any reason to upgrade. Didn't want to fight the deed restrictions. Enjoy the heck out of it along with my Pro-96 scanner and SWL.

Me- tech 2010. When I took the test there was a guy there who aced all three and walked out with extra class.
