Does anyone know where you can buy a decent antenna kit for RadarBox ?

Preferably one that comes with a good quality cable (with correct jacks pre-installed) and ready to go ?

DPD makes a great antenna with 9dB of gain without a preamp. They also sell the adapter pigtails from your coax to the box, but they don't sell the coax. I got that from CableXperts.

DPD Productions - VHF Air Band & ADS-B (SBS / RadarBox) Antennas for Commercial & Hobbyist Applications

Coax Cable assemblies |RF 50 OHM| RFID Cables | Custom coax assemblies

I built my own 9dB gain antenna for about $7 and some old coax I had laying around. Seems to work great.

I frequently track the following types in Reno area - KC-135, KC-10, C17, C5, C130, E6B along with U2's out of Beale AFB

Sorry for bumping an older post, but joking, are you using the stock antenna or did you create or buy a larger one? I am thinking of getting a RadarBox but with Reno being so varied in elevation I am curious about the coverage. My Pro-97 picks up things pretty well if that's any indication.

I use only the stock antenna - I live in a downstairs apartment and it just sits in the windowsill which is only about 2 feet off the floor and faces west - I think it does a pretty good job considering the circumstances - I get a 30-50 mile range to the west gradually decreasing to about half that toward the east (there are also other apartmnents on the backside of mine) - unfortunately I don't have any way to put up an external antenna - I did however once take it out in a friends pickup with his laptop and was picking up 100-150 miles with the antenna just sitting on top of the roof. If you have the ability to put up an outside antenna I would believe that it would be worth the effort/expense.

I should warn you though that if you do try to use it in a vehicle the small magnetic base does not hold well if moving - we learned the hard way - then we just found some high ground and parked - it worked beautifuly.

E6B - RadarBox and SBS

I've tracked E6B's for the last couple of years using both boxes. In fact I was able to snap a high level pic of one while it was working north of Montreal. Got this while they were heading back south at FL290

Nice picture!

Living on the east coast affords me an incredible amount of traffic, especially passing over Long Island from Europe to KJFK and KLGA and beyond. I use BaseStation (SBS-1er) to do most of the work, but I particularly enjoy using the "My Sky" feature of Planeplotter. It gives me a unique perspective of my immediate area. Now to get out there with a camera!!

I have a video on my YouTube channel (DaveNF2G) of the Virgin Atlantic A340 "Streamliner" passing over the Albany VOR enroute to Newark Liberty, along with the RadarBox screen showing the aircraft approaching.

Very nice photo of the E-6B!
