Shockingly, RS #22C458 (Dp Electronics) in little Sidney, NE is still clinging to life. The Cabela's/Bass Pro Shops merger may be the dagger in the heart, however.
Did you call the popo?![]()
At this moment in Burlington, Vermont, somebody is trying to steal the old Radio Shack store sign!! (Our store closed months ago) I had nowhere to share this where it might be appreciated other than here😃
Is it against the law to steal worthless material? I s'pose it is but who cares?
I can't picture the City of Burlington in my mind. So, I will have to go with City of Brattleboro, down in Windham County(1972-74, 75-76, 78-80,82-84). I could picture an RS being on Main St. and some kid taking a sign. Remembering I am visualizing. At this moment in Burlington, Vermont, somebody is trying to steal the old Radio Shack store sign!! I saw a picture where someone removed the big "R" from radio and the "hack" from shack, leaving a sign that said "adio S"
Appropriate.

I really have no idea how RS plans to remain in business. They were barely operating in the past two years between the last two bankruptcies. Our stores were constantly plagued with lack of stock, non-existent product quality control, no advertising whatsoever, corporate incompetence, and all while continually fighting the perception that we went out of business in 2015. Just cruise through the website, and you'll see that the most popular product description is "sold-out online".
How that's going to translate into success is beyond me.
I don't believe anyone is really saying that will happen with any sincerity.
Not on this board, at least. But I'd have to guess the company believes they have a chance. While I do think the dealer stores may find success, the remaining company stores (30?) and the website won't. The shopping public has spent the past two years, maybe even the past twenty, moving on from RadioShack. The only advantages RS ever had over other retailers and the Internet, convenience and availability, are gone.
If RS could possibly get into a unique business that the public might use (i.e., recycled toilet paper), they might, just might, have a chance.

That was suggested to RS around 2003, but no one in corporate gave a crap.
