• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

While technically a 10 meter radio…has anyone seen or tried one yet? I got emails regarding this new model and I’m wondering how it may compare to the Anytone 5555N-II.

Sep 9, 2023This Radioddity QT-60 is absolutely identical to the CRT SS7900V and the Anytone AT-5555N2.

I got mine a little while ago. Just now wiring up a Turner 3+ to it. I love the SWR meter inside and the Noise reduction is great!

DSP is the game-changer.

I’ve had an outboard NRC device almost ten years. Have persisted in trying to persuade others of that utility as it changes one experience so very much.

I'm a believer. I bought a CB-27 because it was so cute then got the AT-5555n II. I just picked up a Clearspeech DSP Speaker to use on the CB-27 as that "noise" you hear on the bands is really people talking!

It’s what pre-NRC favorite radios need to perform with todays higher expectations.
$225

The NRC radios are in their element with the non-powered Driver Extreme DX-901. Velvety audio. $53.

We used to carefully cut out the order form from a magazine page and then only after having written out the form 2X on another sheet would we commit ourselves to filling out the true form in ink.

By those who’d turned in weekly English essays in legible longhand script.

At offer bottom was the caveat that orders could expected to be shipped in 4-6/weeks. So a USPS Money Order was purchased along with signature verification of receipt.

Same practice in writing to get envelope legibly addressed for both parties.

Long distance calls at low cost plus photocopiers sort of didn’t exist outside of larger corporations. Not for use by your typical guy.

Anyone remember Reader Service Cards included in magazines to freely acquire information?

Otherwise it was enclose $2 ($18 today) or more with a SASE of appropriate size (brochure or catalog).

(Nice problem to have from greybeard perspective)

If its the same as the Anytone and basically the same price, why would you not just buy the Anytone? There are USA distributors of the Anytone that provide a US warranty. Good luck buying from China, it will cost nearly as much as the radio did new to return it.

If one is considering purchasing a QT60 I would recommend checking out this guy..........
Scott's Radios
For some more info on his services this YouTube video provides some good info.......
New Radioddity QT60 for Todd in Colorado
These Radioddity units, unlike Anytones, DO come with a factory warranty!

JD
My Anytone came with full US warranty and has a local warranty repair shop. Again, why would you buy a relabeled radio and not the original?

Not any known changes due to name. Buy 500 and they’ll inscribe it prcguy as brand.

Early word on “the 955 clone” (as it was called 1.5-years ago) was that Stryker warrantied theirs and the AT would be cash & carry (no warranty) as part of $425 radio versus $250 clone.

Advantage of buying at Scott’s is some TLC programming, etc, with conversion. (He was an Anytone “dealer” testing prototypes; many happy customers other forums).

Amazon or 88 Radio or Walcott or Scott’s.
Choose yer poison. I’m referring to it as Q5/QT60 hereon.

RadiOddity —
like PowerWerx (or Walcott) — has plenty of nice items catalogued. Not just a one-off seller.

I tried to talk Ham Radio Outlet at Plano into carrying it, but had no favorable chemistry in that exchange. Be nice to see it at DX Engineering, but that catalog is intimidating for a gear jammer.

Our hobby being what it is, the above are worth getting to know. Truckstop CB shops ain’t the thing for high performance. (Balun, choke, toroid, . . some kinda foreign food, huh?)

21st Century finally here, so who’s gonna make the grade?

I’ve been to HRO Plano and they seem to be hams to the core and probably don’t want to push easy to modify 10m rigs.

Agreed. Quite helpful to me in all other ways. Been there several times.

But their “CB” for sale is a terrible choice, today. There are low power choices with NRC after all.
