Today I read in firenews.net that Raleigh is switching over to viper. Does anyone have any info about who will be going to this system, and any talkgroups yet?? Thanks and have a great new year. -Dave
I went ahead and programmed in the Raleigh Fire Dept VIPER talkgroups into my Pro-96 when they were first posted in database. While visiting there last week, I was getting activity on the Battalion talkgroups consisting of individuals testing the 800 mhz radios. It appeared they were testing coverage in Crabtree and Triangle Town Center malls. They are also running Locution on the 800 mhz RFD dispatch talkgroup. One could hear the call being dispatched by voice on 154.370 and hear a Locution dispatch of the call on 800 at the same time.
Raleigh FD is scheduled to go live on the Viper/Wake County 800Mhz System this Tuesday January 10th. Accurate Talkgroups are listed in the State of NC "Viper" System in the RR.com database.
