where are you moving to? that would help reccomendations.

In southern new england, Lentini is an established and highly technical shop with very very good people.

In the same town as AARL headquarters lends a sort of panache maybe hahaha.

These are just my personal observations, but-

  • Lentini- Called requesting a price for an item that they carried. Was cut off rudely in almost every sentence I spoke, the salesman wouldnt let me finish any question I had before barking out his answer to what he THOUGHT I was saying.
  • Scannerworld- Sales lady had a real problem looking parts up to see if they were still in stock. No- not a problem of ability looking the parts up, a problem of willingness to do same. Had other things to do, she said, very very busy.
  • Scanner Master- Placed an order online. Recieved a confirmation email with projected delivery date. Date passed, called to check status and was told that they never had the item in stock and were still wondering how to fill the order without upsetting the customer. MY CARD HAD BEEN CHARGED BY THIS POINT!!
I am truly sad that Glenn is retiring out at Scanners Unlimited, as he was the best in the business. Answering the phone kindly and always taking the time to answer any questions we may have had. Willing to deal, too... A true good man who will be missed in the business.

I'm moving to the Columbus, OH area, which means monitoring the MARCS P25 system. I'll probably just stick with HRO or AES for mail order. Thanks!

I bought my 996's from universal radio in columbus. Verry happy with the guys there at the showroom (I was a walk in customer) - they actually talk to a customer :D !!

I have bought most of my fleet of scanners over the years from ScannerMaster and I have never been disappointed.

I have bought from AES in Milwaukee for several other items like antennas and ham gear, again never a problem by phone, online or in person.

I have also been to Universal a couple times in Columbus, nice folks, nice store, decent prices and my wife liked the cats.

I have also had good luck with Grove and HamStation, but I haven't dealt with ScannerWorld, CE or Scanners Unlimited in years, no reason other than I have been used to dealing with others.

Broadband... it was pretty much the same experaence for me... i went in there and they didnt even ask if they could help me even when i was standing at the desk... then i fiannaly asked if they can get me my scanner and then he rolled his chair over to it... But whatever they do what they do... i always have other places to get things... like the internet.
