Absolutely. How can amateur radio reinvent itself? This has been stated before in these discussions, but no one has ever floated any concrete ideas.

That should be an interesting and lively discussion.
I think reinvention should come from the younger crowd, not the older hams.
I think start by looking at all aspects of the hobby and holding them against 97.1 "Basis and purpose". If it doesn't meet one or more of those 5 items, it's out.
Your friendly moderator suggests that if you intend to start down the "reinvent amateur radio" path, that you start a new thread focused on that topic.
Maybe start with examining the the FCC's definition of the basis and purpose of amateur radio. Does that need to change?

Agreed. Between this thread and the one I linked to in post #21, it seems that topic has already been tossed around a fair amount and a new thread might not break any new ground. IMHO.
