Riverside city TRS

I was looking at the db and saw this, The notes for the license say its for the city of Riverside. Are they going to move away from PSEC? Is fire going on here or are they going to let the license expire. Im not in the area to see if the CC is active if someone can check.

The license for the Riverside system expires January next year.
It's been licensed for nine years and still not active?

This system has been in the design phase for a while. I believe that the main user focus will be public services for the city and PD and FD can use it as a back up as necessary. It also will give the city good interoperability as needed on their own infrastructure.

I spent 48 years in Riverside but moved out of state three years ago. I visit soCal almost monthly, but not Riverside. I usually stay in the SG Valley area. Was there for Christmas two weeks ago and heard RFD still using 460.575 PL123.0. Per my notes for last year, they were also still using 460.6 PL97.4 as well as 154.175 PL141.3. I don't have any digital scanners, so I won't be able to check their P25 system. I'd be interested in hearing what the end result will be.

Great video. Thanks for sharing it. The FF down/PASS system example was particularly concerning, obviously. I wonder if the LACoFD did similar tests on LA-RICS and based their decision to keep most of their ops on analog UHF. ICI uses P-25 trunked and it seems to work ok? Any known issues with that?

That test was done under best conditions.

This test was done at least 10 years ago and likely with either no or bad noise reduction configured in the test radio(s) and likely with the old CODEC where this was a known problem.

Departments all over the country use P25 trunking and while yes, it does have some potential vulnerabilities, as long as those are recognized and planned for, it's not that big of a deal.

Riverside county fire agencies are planning on using analog simplex tactical channels for IDLH (Immediately Dangerous to Life or Health) operations as agencies continue to cut over.

There is a couple the municipal department within Riverside County are looking to join the PSEC system, i do understand the interoperability between agencies, not the total encryption of all fire talk groups, maybe one or two encrypted channels. I'm not a fan of Phase 2, the phase 1 sounds a lot better with fire ground operations, and SCBA

Those in building requirements are for their current Analog Conventional System. They aren't requiring compliance with 700mhz freqs at this time (probably because they're not using the TRS).

Omg that 700 system is terrible essentially all the time... Man being down and no audio is awful, life and death situation and can't even get comms out...big time safety issues. On side not that antenna on the far right radio is so bent 🤣
