I am Roger Stenstrom and have been interested in amateur radio and scanning since I was very Young. Probably about 1969. I can recall my dad operating CW. In about 1970 One particular situation I remember is Dinner was ready and mom was calling dad to dinner. He was in the middle of a CW Q so to Japan from Tacoma Washington. There was no way you were going to get him away from his radio. Mom was not thrilled and I remember this. I remember mom having a crystal Scanner that stayed on 24 seven in the utility room. I can remember going to RadioShack and getting different crystals for different frequencies for her scanner. Needless to say I became a amateur radio operator and still very active in the hobby. I had a Scanner most all of my life up until around 20 years ago. I started working for a police department and had a Pd Radio and had to listen 40+ hours a week. Got burned out on it after a few years and did not have a scanner for several years. About five years ago I was promoted to facilities manager. I now don’t need to listen to my PD radio. For about five years unless there was an emergency on the street I had to help with. I never turned on the Pd Radio. I am now very interested again and even leave my PD radio on at my desk. Recently purchased SDS200 and a SDS 100 to listen at the house when I’m not at work. I could just bring home my PD radio but it only scans The police department that I work for. Just to clarify I worked as a animal control officer for 12 years and now I am the facilities manager for the animal control facility. We work under the police department And transmit to PD dispatch for all of our communication.
