RT Systems Software

HI there - I have a Yaseu vx-6 that I am using rt software with. I recently got a baofeng uv 5r. If I wanted to use the rt sysems software for programing on the baofeng would I need to purchase the rt software systems again or could I just by their cable they offer for that radio?

A different software package for each radio.

You need to purchase each one individually.

Going forward for Baofeng would just use the free software to program that model.

Each software package is designed for a specific radio. RT Software doesn't just handle frequencies. Their programs also control a radio's display, timers, etc.

For most Baofengs, using the free Baofeng CPS along with CHIRP gives you access to most of the functions avaliable to the radio, and in the RT CPS.

I use and enjoy several RT programs for a variety of radios. Best CPS made for certain radios. But, I just can't see paying for good RT stuff when the free stuff works fine, if not as convenient(especially for a cheap radio). I've got 10 of the 5RM units, but once you get the first codeplug working, they're easy enough to copy and modify with the Baofeng program.
