Bummer my old department is heading to the Big "E". I'll miss hearing some old friends who voices I still recognize.

National City PD Dispatch 2 seems to be encrypted. Working the "active shooter" incident they kept going to Dispatch 2 and every time all the units were encrypted, so thinking this is their form of PII protection at least for right now. Also of note, just about every night all night NCPD is Phase 2 only.

Sounds like Coronado PD is now fully encrypted. Dispatch 1 for the last few hours, all comms have been encrypted.

Looks like they are using the tac2 for now while they make the switch over.

I have just been informed that over the 12-week radio updating process, non-encrypted radios will operate on tac2's while encrypted radios operate on primary, with patch in place until completion of the process.

I heard the dispatch this morning at 0620. " All units switch to Tac 4 for radio reprogramming" Last thing I heard from them. They came along way since the old green and white cars running colors for radio channels on UHF Blue Yellow ,White, Green and a few others. Old cars had a control head with colored buttons on them. Good by SDSO for now.

Someone called me on the phone a few moments ago and said I'd get a kick out of RR this afternoon. Boy were they right.

This is heartbreaking.

Children are dying of starvation all over the world, and the fact you can't listen to your local law enforcement agencies is "heartbreaking".

I'll let that speak for itself.

It's your government, people. This is going on all over the place. Band together and do something about it if it means that much to you.

In the meantime, my work radio sounds just fine to me. Bet that breaks your heart too, don't it?

You‘re really going to take issue with a word I used?
