scanner power supply

I have seen it a few times. People have used what looks like a computer power supply to run several scanners. does any on know where i could find info on how to do this. Or if it is possible to do this. Thanks!!!!

I would not recommend this as pc power supplies are very noisy unfiltered supplies and can generate noise in your receivers.

There are some realy nice filtered power supplys for guitar pedals that might work.

I have several old ups's that you just gave an idea of tapping the battery bus and tap down as required, kill two birds, save the feed during brownouts,Better put the cable modem & router on one two.
