I also have a few of the Nooelec NESDR Smart dongles as well that work quite well... I think I just grabbed them from Amazon.

My go to SDR is the Airspy. Its a bit more expensive but so far its been bulletproof. Waterproof too, LOL. I dropped in the snow and it survived overnight before it was found and defrosted. Not by me, that is why it got wet.

I have no issues with my RTL-SDR v3. There is now a V4 that has better HF capabilities. They are well worth the money.

This thread is a hi-jack of a two year old thread, I've split it from that. Member: mscir lives in California and has purchased a BCD 996P2.

The suggestions are good reading and advice for those considering an SDR.
