Today my 2.5 year old SDS 100 stopped receiving anything. First noticed it in a trunked p25 system. Went over to weather and all I hear is faint static on every frequency I scroll to. I do notice that in both the p25 and the weather my RSSI is at -40 almost constantly. All I’ve tried so far is turn off, remove the battery and took out and placed back in the sd card. No improvement. Any thoughts? Is it toast?

No not necessarily toast, it's old enough though to have a cold solder joint issue. You could also have a data card problem. Get a new data card and reload it.

Always try a new SD card first to eliminate that possibility. The symptoms sound like the cold solder joint issue. Check the connector on your antenna to see if the center pin is broken off or pushed in. Swap antennas if you have another.

Antenna is good. I’ll try a new card tomorrow. If that doesn’t work I’ll have to send it in. Not happy about this. If I have to send it in, I contact Uniden first and get an authorization ?

Start at this pages, to verify current repair rates.

You'll also see a link down at the bottom of the page to Send an Item in for Repair

Fill out the form linked on that page & include it with your scanner. You don't need to call in advance before sending it, but do make sure the completed form goes in with your scanner.
