OK let me explain. First of all, the DMA scanners are new to me. I've used conventional (programmable, not crystal) scanners years ago. I am just now easing back into monitoring. I purchased an SDS100 about a month ago. I have found some GREAT documentation online as well as a LOT of advice. Marksscanners put out a GREAT "easy to read" web page for the SDS100.

I am VERY new to this type of scanner so please bear with me. There is a ton of features I don't yet understand, or know how to use. "Baby steps". For my first few questions: I have a very small set of favorites lists. I have set the delay on each entry for 4 sec. (PD's in my area are slow to respond).

1. If the scanner stops on a channel, and I don't want to finish listening to the transmission, is there a single button I can press to continue the scanning? I know I can stop and restart scanning by pressing the "channel" soft key twice. Any way to do it with one key press.

2. With my old BC 100XLT there was a priority button, that if I could quickly make a transmitting channel a priority channel. Is there any such means on the SDS100 ? I am aware that I can do it in Sentinel, but I'd like the convenience of being able to do it on the fly.

3. Regarding setting the channel delay. Within Sentinel I couldn't find a global (System or Depart) delay setting to make ALL the entries in that particular list (in my case) 4 sec. I had to do them by setting it at the top of a particular column, then dragging it down to all the cells. Is there a global setting at either the System or Department level for this somewhere?

Thank you.

My workarounds...

1. Turn the knob to the right or left and it will continue to scan.

2. Yes...if you press the E (Enter) button while the scanner is monitoring the transmission, you will be bright to the Advanced Channel Menu...Edit Current Channel will be highlighted press E (Enter). You can scroll down to Set Priority. If you're trying to Set Priority on a Trunking System Talkgroup, you also have to set Priority ID Scan at the system level.

3. Edit...Edit Favorite List to enter the menu. Highlight the Delay you'd like to set...right click..Copy. Left click, drag the other talkgroups/conventional channels you want to change...Right click...Paste. File..Save...Write to Scanner.

Thank you werinshades. I'll try those. One question, re #3. So this can't be done at the global, system or department level ? Also, I think I am already doing what you're suggesting, just different words. When you say <<<Left click, drag the other talkgroups/conventional channels you want to change...Right click...Paste. File..Save...>>> Can you explain this a little more please? Are you describing a simple "drag to highlight the cells, then paste" ? Thanks.

I believe the default setting is 2 Secs and to change it, you can go to the Department/System level in Sentinel.

Yes...dragging to paste...I don't know another way to describe it...lol!

Selection, copy, & paste works mostly the same in Sentinel as it does in Excel.

I would add that Proscan makes it even easier.
Proscan has a search/replace utility - really useful if you have lots of FLs, depts, etc.
