Try with filter off. Trying to figure out if the scanner is broken, or giving weird readings because of some kind of interference in or near your house.

Leaving now, will update back. It MAY be broken, I had it on the charger and battery voltage was 4.21 when I took it off it said 4.12, plugged it back in to make sure my eyes weren't playing tricks and sure enough it said 4.21 again.

That is normal. Battery voltage goes up a bit when charging, and drops a bit when discharging. In your case, less than a tenth of a volt.

The problematic system's tower is 7 miles from my home. The other systems tower is 2 miles from my home, might be obvious as to why I hear that more clear at various setting levels. When going out today, the problematic system picked up very clear and frequent at one spot (the same location where I began receiving this system originally) that's 4 miles from the tower. I had it on Attenuator, Squelch 3 and it only came in once because it was in the middle of driving through didn't get a chance to stop and see if any more activity. When it was lowered to 1, you could sit in that one spot all day if it was a perfect world. The problematic system's tower is on a mountain and I live in the valley so that may also be an issue. Whats interesting is, when I went out of town yesterday, the tower is also on a mountain but where I was was not in a city environment, the tower is 13 miles away from where I was and I picked up way more easier than I do at home.

At home, I tried it again and when I raise Squelch the transmissions that the units give come off distorted while the dispatcher is way more clearer if anything does get picked up.

Not too many systems, a strong signal from something. How close are you to the actual transmitter?

In conjunction with the above post. I've been doing Analyze. On the problem system, its often:

0 - S, 0 - Q, 0 - A
12-50% - S, 100 - Q, 0 or 100 on A depending if transmission comes in or if they are even talking
0 - S, 100 - Q, 100 - A (Transmissions still come in clear)

DATA and signal bars often go out frequently or DATA will stay on but no signal bars, or it will show full signal bars and no DATA but Analyze will be empty

On the non-problem system,
75 - S, 100 - Q, 0 or 100 on A -depending if transmission comes in or if they are even talking

I do have a lot of electronics at home but I would think the other system would be more problematic as well.

Just confirmed I purchased an expensive lemon. I tried my local police/fire on the phone app and its very busy. Haven't heard a thing on this SDS100 and since I've had it I never recieved any Fire calls only police. Ironically, I had some activity on the problematic system throughout this evening.

I believe I do, the only ones that are not on are Fire Police Trac I believe it said. But I'm not sure how to turn those on when it says "---". I left the radio in the other room fully charged on the problematic system and activity has been frequent I think the best I'm going to get, so I'm staying away for now. The screen still has DATA and full signal bars and NOISE 200-400's and RSSI between -40 and -55, and increases to 80's and 90's when voice comes through.

If a Service Type shows "---" in the menu, that means you don't have any channels of that Type being actively scanned.

True, so I don't know why I'm not receiving Fire but I am Police.

Do you have fire talkgroups organized in a separate Department from police? If so, the fire Department might be disabled.

I'm not sure about disabled but nothing is avoided. The system from Sentinel comes with Fire, Police, and School as Departments. I only have Schools Permanently avoided.

If you have Location Control on, and range and location settings in the Department are either blank or far away from you, the Department could be disabled by Location Control without being Avoided.

Just checked, I don't have Location Control on, I just did a settings reset, now that its fully charged. So far, I'm not receiving anything on any system.

Haven't touched anything and now able to hear Police. Still no Fire and the problematic system. Haven't touched Squelched, Filters, or any settings.

Can you go for a drive and see if you hear fire and/or the trouble system?

Not until tomorrow. I notice with the Police it comes in spurts, I will get activity for hours at a time and then nothing at all. Then I was thinking maybe the fire is not in use yet.

Make sure all your police, fire, and EMS Service Types are turned on, but don't change any other settings until after you go walkabout. If your problems go away when you leave the house, that will tell you your problem is some local interference. If not, then it's back to the drawing board.
