*in the meantime I'm waiting for 536s to hit the market at low prices as people gear up for the new 200*(y)

Only the secondary market, EBay, Craigslist, other used venues. There won’t be any significant drops on new units for a while.

If going by what happened when the sds100's came out i would not expect any real low prices. You might get lucky but even on ebay the 436hp's did not drop in price any appreciable amount on the used market.

Yeah, I meant on the secondary / used / pre-owned market.
I picked up a like-new 536 for sub-$300 after the 100 was released.

I’m a little new to this type of scanning I already have a sds100 does this radio do anything more as far as receiving or is it basically identical? I see it has a lan connection and additional ports but this is a small hobby to me and I’m not sure it’s worth owning both

If you already have a 100, this radio will be very similar but is generally tied down to one location (or in your vehicle, if you are in a place where mounting it in your vehicle is legal). Other than the external connection for remote control, at present there is no indication there is anything radically different from the 100 other than size and shape.

Hello, Can the beta testers post a video of the scanner receiving analog UHF and VHF along with aircraft that would be interesting?
Thank You -

I've also dealt with Jeff for many years and always had great service. Wish they were still in business, but at least they are around for these new scanner offerings.

I think we should thank Jason Houk who was one of the beta testers for taking time out of his day to provide a live feed so we can all get a look at this new scanner in action. His SDS 100 videos swayed me into being one of the early adapters and have never regretted it and have remained in contact with him since my purchase. I fully expect firmware upgrades, Sentinel upgrades to follow shortly and the scanner should be out to the dealers and in our hands within a month. The size reminds me of some of the older crystal Bearcat scanners, but boy have things changed since those days! Well done Uniden!

I’m also wondering if I want the sds200. The screen size is appealing . I have the Bcd536hp with upgrades but still find myself wanting the sds200 on looks alone .

It looks intriguing, but I think I'll pass. This is simply a higher price tag to the biggest manufacturer, to engage in Jones-racing, in a shrinking market, while encryption does it's best to kill the hobby completely.

Why we have this, when we already have firmware-upgradable scanners that can't handle CQPSK/LSM signalling, to the tune of hundreds of dollars already, is beyond me. People already spent tons of money on the HP series, 996/325 series, etc. Why does this exist, while the 436/536 can't handle LSM? While the BCD996P2 actually LOST remote head support, and has no NXDN upgrade (while the Whistler competitor comes with DMR and NXDN right out of the box)? Especially as I finally just jumped on board with GPS-based mobile scanning, paid up almost $100 for what is essentially a BU353 puck and a serial adapter, just in time for Uniden to decide that they'll be going with some RJ11/CAT3 thing?

Eh, no thanks. Uniden should have put more into keeping a single unit relevant for longer than a year to two years. If the product line upgrades are going to be treated in this fashion, that's fine, but you should just go to a rental-market-subscriber model, and just figure out a way for all these scanners to just be dumb boxes connected to a central hub, like the internet. Having to get something that's the newest of the new every year to two years is ridiculous, especially when the existing architecture is in place for continual upgrades. $100? $150? Annually? I think that's fair. $700 Every two years? Outlandish.

I think once my 996P2 ages out, I'll just stop listening and stop caring.
