I have no problem changing colors and profiles and the USB cable that came with the SDS works just fine.
It is definitely a screen color LED variation which I am willing to live with. I'm keeping it. Very happy with receiving sensitivity.
Ok, I'm just wondering if it's a display ribbon cable issue out of the box, and some here have later issues with display flickering. Newer scanners have had minor hardware revisions, so anything new will probably be just as good. Yes, the decision is yours, and might save yourself a headache for a week or so of missing a new scanner.

I just got a new one too, and the display colors definitely do not match the older SDS200s.

I highly doubt this is a 'defect'. It's just a change in either the display itself or somewhere else in the display circuitry.

I had to send in a BCD996P2 a couple months ago because the display died. And yes, I tried the "re-seat ribbon cable" fix with no joy. It came back with a new display ... which does not match the colors of another 996P2 I have.

If the OP thinks the scanner is defective and wants to send it back that is an option. Personally I was like, "Hmm they must have changed the display" and have been enjoying my new one very much, thank you.

And I believe you might be correct. I seem to recall a note about the display being changed due to the old one going NLA.

That said, I believe there may be something else going on, as the difference should not be as dramatic as in the first two pics.

It looks like the one on the right has a much different contrast/brightness set. It's not just the colors that are different, but the whole display.

All display settings are identical. I'm living with it and not sending it in. The sensitivity on the new one is great. I have never had any other issues with the SDS200. (y)

If a display are exchanged with another brand or model then all things related to brightness, contrast and color can change. Just look at Whistlers simple tri-LED that where replaced with another brand and the alarm LED's colors changed dramatically so you will have to make your own color blending if you want the colors to match the settings you do.

Didn't Uniden change the display backlight LED's on x36 that burned out and where replaced by another type and that simple change made the display look different?

That is fine. If you want to try to get the colors to match, just lower the contrast on the new one to see if that works.

If it does, you will know how to 'fix' it.

I just purchased a second sds 200 and noticed the display is not as crisp and the colors are a bit “dull” compared to my older one. Performance wise it seems the same.

In Sentinel...Edit...Edit Profile...Display Options ..lower right corner, change the brightness level to your preferences..File...Save...Write to Scanner.

It's default values are normally set lower when scanner is new. I always update mine. Try it, see if it helps.

Thanks for the advice but I already had the scanner set to 100% on the high mode display setting. I think it's just the actual hardware causing the difference.
