No, just check their voltage. I have maybe 5 different single, dual and 4-port USB wall chargers and the 4-port one had the highest voltage that never triggered low bus voltage but others where lower and even down to 4,9V. I have a 10 or 12 port USB power supply and its internal power supply broke down so I bought an external one, it's a 12A one, and that too had a higher voltage close to 5,4V so no more low bus voltage from that.

I'm not sure how to check the voltage on a wall block - but do you think a 1-amp or 2-amp makes a difference? Or is all in the voltage?

It's all in the voltage as it is what are measured in the scanner. But the scanner takes 850mA and charging takes 500mA so if you do charging while using the scanner it has to be at least a 1,5A USB capability.

Thanks to all of the people who signed up to be testers, it seems the app is now available on Google Play for everyone. Although, the only way I am able to find it is to search for my callsign.

There is a new version there, small changes only; Added an exit button, set the audio to attempt a restart if it is lost, and some Uniden icons now display on the landscape mode

I downloaded it last week and used it for a road trip ... What an awesome app and Thank You for developing it.

I would be very happy to make a contribution to your efforts, please DM me so we can arrange it.

I think you have a typo:

It can also connect over Wifi to network connected scanner models (BCD436, SDS200) using the scanner's IP address. When connected by Wifi, scanner audio will be played from the phone speakers.

I think you mean BCD536 instead of BCD436

It's working great on my tablet, however, the System, Dept, Channel buttons are missing on my phone's version. After all your time and effort you should be charging something on Google play.

In horizontal, the lowest buttons are the dim. menu and the 2 functions. On the display, the lowest are the TGIG and RSSI . Its a new Moto phone which just updated to Android 15. I just installed it on my old Android 11 phone and it is the same. My cheapo ,no name Android 14 tablet seems to be all there and works well.

I have duplicated your issue by increasing the "display size" in settings.
Just have to figure out a fix.

I am way behind the curve on this, so will only ask if there is a tutorial or instructions that I can look at? I don't want to repeat a bunch of questions that have likely already been answered.

Thanks.

No, not really. The only things are this thread, the Google Play description, and the github readme.

What do you want to know?

I guess my first question would be how do you connect to the scanner? As in via cable or WiFi?

I know that this started out as a display only (at least I think so), and now seems like a full functioning remote. That said, what versions of Android are needed?

It's very encouraging that someone finally came up with some sort of Android app for use with scanners.

You're right, I really had no intention to go this far when I started it.

It should run on any Android version later than 7, but Android has some very diverse products, so no guarantees.

You can connect to any of the supported 4 scanners with USB or the Wifi connected scanners with Wifi. It works pretty much the same either way, except for the audio from the wifi connection. There is no way that I know of to get the audio over USB.
For USB you need a cable to run between the phone and the scanner direct, no hubs or anything.
