It's fairly critical that if you have three sets of data/Favorites Lists (one in Sentinel, second in the scanner and the third in ProScan) you'll have to be pretty mindful to keep them synced. If not, you can lose valuable work. If you create a Favorites List with ProScan, write it to the scanner, then use Sentinel to read the scanner.
So.....How do you recommend using all 3? Im more familiar with Sentinal for programming, because that’s what I started on 3 years ago. I like Proscan web portal for listening on the go Locally, purchased it a month ago. I signed up for RR premium to see what that was all about.
I like the tree system in Proscan but I personally think it’s easier to append a frequency in Sentinel then do the copy paste thing in Proscan.

You can actually drag and drop departments, channels, systems etc. and have the scanner scan your list in the appropriate order once you assign proper quick keys. When I figured that part in ProScan it had me sold at that point. I couldn't do that in the ARC program. ProScan is excellent for programming. Especially custom programming.

I just updated my programming file in the ARC program just the other day. I noticed the last time they had been updated was a year ago January. I use ProScan all the time and I don't even use all the capabilities of it. Sentinal I don't even look at unless I have to such as a firmware update.

I will have to check that out. I’ve looked all over, YouTube, google,RR, etc.... everywhere trying to find instructions on programming my sds100 using Proscan. No luck. I would really like to use just it to web serve and program , then sentinel just for firmware and database updates.

You don't even really need to use Sentinal either if you're looking at importing from RR. You can do that in ProScan as well as long as your a paid membership with your RR account. Or get the free database import using Sentinal. If people knew how easy it is to custom program your scanner. You can have endless stuff to listen to at any given time. I generally only use Sentinal to download the database included in the radio even though I don't even use that portion and I do that maybe every couple of months. Also again, if there's a firmware update, but that won't be coming for awhile yet for my 436.

So in Proscan you drag and drop if say you are moving a department -system whatever to a new favorite list.
Whereas is Sentinel you append?

Also why I have an expert at my attention...LOL😏 .
I did a discovery the other day on my scanner.
Saved the logs.
moved them to a favorite list.
Now when they play under my DEPT it reads them as 5.RUN0014 or something similar.
Is there a way to display the actual dept instead of the 5.RUN0014 so I can know who is actually transmitting?

I really do thank you for your time answering my silly questions.

Just go in and edit them on the right hand side. If you're talking about in ProScan.

Double click on what you want to change.

You can use all 3 in conjunction with each other:

If you create or edit a Favorites List in Sentinel, then write it to you scanner, the next step would be to read the scanner in ProScan and save your file(s).

On the other hand, if you create or edit a Favorites List in ProScan, then write it to your scanner, the next step in that case, would be to read the scanner in Sentinel.

That way the same information is in all 3.

Thanks for your help everyone👍 I spent the evening editing my FL‘s .... searched and removed duplicates frequencies , removed all QK‘s I had created, renamed and alphabetically arranged FL’s 🤪. All using Proscan. After getting acquainted with Proscan I will have to admit it is so much easier to program than with sentinel. In future I can see me just using sentinel for firmware updates.

Just a note, when I make changes to my programing in Proscan, I use the "Save as" feature and enter a date along with the scanner you are programming as the file title(I have 4 different radios), that way its easy to tell which is your most recent programing update for each radio. Or you may have a system you desire already in place. I just thought I'd throw my version out there as a suggestion.

Save as does not work for me like that for me. What am I doing wrong? When I file save , it asks to select folder. When I check OK It just asks to overwrite. How do you name file?

You already have a Favorites Lists there. If you intend to overwrite the existing folder then hit the OK button. If you want to save it to a different folder then select the folder or hit the Make New Folder button then type in a name of the new folder.
