Read in the paper today Pigeon Forge is trying to find money to get themselves a new
radio system to replace their current and out of date system.
After saying they weren't going to go to the LTR system would this be a change of
heart? Maybe....
Will keep you informed.

Weird, when I lived in Sevier Co. years ago, I was told by someone in the SPD that they built the previous 460mhz system and Gatlinburg and others wanted on. This was about 1976 or 77. Just wondering if they are "out of date" or out of freqs. I hope interoperability stays in their minds.

Well to continue on with the newspaper article, Pigeon Forge Police chief stated that the
current system was so out-of-date that when it went down last year, there was no parts
available because of its age. Since Gatlinburg had purchased a new repeater for their town,
they sold Pigeon Forge police their old one. May be it is having problems also and they just
want to get new radios and a new repeater.
We will have to wait and see if they decide to join the LTR system or just buy a new
repeater for their own use.
Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge didn't want to use the LTR since it created issues of some kind
for them, not sure of what that was though.

Any updates on the new Sevier County system?

Warren

Only what U have seen on here. It is not used by very many agencies at the moment so it
is a slow process.

I read an opinion in the Seymour Herald for what it's worth. The poster stated that Land -Air is owned by a former deputy and a long time friend of Seals. I had to read between the lines in the earlier article as to why they would go it alone and now it all makes sense.

You know I think this thread needs a sticky, it would help while we all are trying to figure the system out and to keep from having to go down the list to update it.
Just a thought.

im a firefighter waldens creek fire dept. sevier county. just got our trunked radios. we are left in the dark on freq's or any operational aspects. there are 3 repeaters in county. no one is told freq's, groups etc. that is what im trying to figure out. one website radio reference shows sevierville fire as dec 011200 mode a what ever that means and scsd at dec 0-11-140 dispatch and 0-11-130 as car to car. can anyone explain the numbers and what does lcn have to do with it. we are not allowed our own personal radios, only dept. issued. it is supposed to be a digital system using kenwood radios. also to be digital as we are told but i dont know how that works or how a scanner changes it to a audile voice. all i know and anyone with more info please post!

Hey "cwe909" my name is Lee Williams and I am volunteering at Great Smokey National Park. Have been here since May 1st and will be leaving here on August 13th. I have the Sevier County system programmed into my Uniden 396. I am staying on the NC side of the park but I do come over to the TN side from time to time. I am wiliing to meet with you to try to help you with understanding how to receive the Sevier system on a digital trunked radio like the 396. You can send me a private message or call my cellphone at 703-402-1130. Will be glad to help out!

I can think about a lot of things to take on a honeymoon, but a scanner would not be one of them.

Here is something of interest.
The other evening I was monitoring the system, My scanner stopped on 460.025 when
the sheriff department was communicating. I reached over to my scanner to turn it up when I inadverdently switched channels. To my surprise, the sheriff department was
ALSO on 453.6125. I live in just outside of Newport which makes it a little difficult to
hear 460.025 but was surprised to hear it so clear on the other freq.
Are they multi-casting their LTR system?
Just curious.
