Thoughts here, should a short jumper be used between the antenna and the heliax cable to the antenna? Antenna is mounted to a Rohn 25 tower top piece with a mounting sleeve, Or should it be just plugged into the antenna and then sealed. Cable will be ran down the outside of the tower and along one of the legs. Just wondering if that little slight jog to the antenna should have a jumper? The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.
For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Its a good idea to use a jumper and a foot or two of RG-214 is commonly used through UHF.
I do have some 1/4 super flex I think that should work in the 153-159 mgz.

Isn't 1/2" superflexible just as flexible as RG214? Most places I've seen use 1/2" as the jumper cable to a 7/8" or 1.1/4" coax.

Install done, I just used the super flex 1/2". Should last for a long time.

What specifically did you use? Was it FSJ4-50B 1/2" Andrew Heliax Cable, Superflex?

I would say RG-214 is more flexible than 1/2" Superflex Heliax and it also costs a lot more if its got silver plated braid. I was just looking at some from DX Engineering, buying in bulk with a 500ft spool comes out to $6.77 per foot.
I have RG-142 100ft of it.
FSJ4_50 super flex. worked just fine.
