Nice to meet you gardner....

LOL I just finished loading in the crash/fire freqs for BAFB...... thanks to Don Starr's win-95 software.

I doubt I can hear them from 30 miles down I-20....but they're there just the same.....

BAFB Frequencies

Hey Mike102,
You do know that the base is on a trunked system right? Have you heard anything on conventional frequencies for the base? Do you have any Id tags for the base?

Gardner,

I figured the base was Trunked and no I don't have any ID Tags. LOL I don't have a clue as to the freqs either.

I'm In Minden just down I-20 about 30 miles from the base. The crash/fire freqs I loaded were out of the 2004 Police call.

I didn't really expect to hear anything on them, but was excited about using my cable and Win-95 to program them into the scanner.

I had tried to put them into the scanner by hand and kept getting "Invalid Freq", but with Win-95 ( thanks again Don Starr ) they loaded up with no problem.

I'm going to do some searching to find the military freqs that will allow me to hear the B-52's talking either in the air or to the tower there.

Also I wouldn't mind being able to hear some chatter from those DARN Warthogs....you know...the ones that come screaming overhead at treetop level and scare the crap out of ya?

Perhaps if I heard 'em coming I could at least duck... ROFL

Hey Mike102,
Let me know what your results are from monitoring the military aircraft frequencies. Load these frequencies in your Pro-95 for the base. 406.35, 407.15, 407.95, 408.75, 409.55, 406.75, 407.55, 408.35, 409.15, 409.95, 406.55, 407.35, 408.15, 408.95, 409.75, 406.95, 407.75, 408.55, 409.35, 410.15, 408.2, and 410.2, these belong to the trunked system. All of these are not used however, the control channel changes often. Make sure you set the base frequency to 406.35, the offset to 380, and the step to 50 KHz. I have about 20 Id's for the system so far. I know the security forces and fire Id's. I am in the security forces squadron. I hope this helps.

Thanks Gardner :D

I'll get those plugged in asap. I doubt I'll catch anything being this far away but ya can never tell.

I do have an outside antenna up on the roof. If you happen to catch any of the "flyboys" I'd love to know what they're using on their touch and go's.

I'm STILL kickin' my own butt over not making a BEELINE to Industrial Blvd the morning of 9-11. *sigh*

When I heard where Bush was at the time, there was NO doubt in my mind where Air Force One was enroute to. I could have used my Nikon and that 300mm lens to get a pic of Air Force One and the escort coming into Barksdale. That would have been "one for the wire services".

But then again....I thought of 6-up a few years ago too... LOL

Thanks again

Saying Hi

Just wanted to say hi to all. I live and work in Shreveport.

Learned to repair two way radios in the AF, been at it ever since.

Seems like I have worked on all the local trunking systems. BAFB, BC, Caddo, LSP, Woodard (now Nextel), GM (no longer on the air).

Listen to radios all day long, never EVER wanted to scan while not getting paid for it.

Anyway, just wanted to say hi!
