Strange... it worked fine for me when I was down not long ago. Were you able to at least get the control channel?

After the security folks made me return the scanner to the truck, I didn't really have much time to experiment. I had a long walk back to the truck then had to get back and rejoin with my friends. I'm brand new at scanning but it seems pretty straight forward. The files W4NOV provided worked perfectly with ARC396Pro. I printed then compared what RR has listed and they were identical. It's possible I did something wrong but I'm generally pretty savvy when it comes to this type of thing.

Are you sure you had the KSC trunked system in there? Not conventional channels, but the trunked system. Maybe post it here so we can see?

Here is a view of the launch from the backyard. My first launch from the new location in Melbourne, FL. Didn't think about getting the camera until a minute or two into the launch. Very cool sight!

I took a lot of photos while I was at KSC, many of which are duplicitous. I also downloaded several from NASA and have posted them to a web gallery. There are also a few movies that you can watch, one of which is a NASA made movie. I didn't want to lug around a camcorder so I just took the movies with my digital camera. If anyone is interested go to http://www.k4kw.com and click on Web Gallery.

update to scanner issues at STS-124 launch

i know that had to have been really disappointing, sorry for the bad experience....at least you got to SEE it live !! congrats !!!

any chance the buzzing you heard was Digital transmisions ???? the KSC 400 Mhz Trunked freqs are listed here as Digital......and if your scanner isn't Digital capable, you'd just hear the 'buzzing'......

good luck

I'm back! After a busy summer I can finally catch up on this.

I must say, weather or not I heard anything on the scanner, it was the most spectacular thing I have ever seen! I am already planning my trip back in February for STS-119.

Unfortunately, my scanner is not digital, that must be why I didn't get much. But Im also (sort of) glad to know others had some of the same problems.

To rdale, I was at Space view park in Titusville at the end of Garden street. Line of site to LC-39. How much closer can I get?!

I chose to use the database acces/download cable to make it easier to program, thats the whole point of that feature.

I'm sure I'll figure out way to make it an even better experience next time with my scanner!

Distance isn't a factor if you don't have a compatible scanner :)
