I want to see if I got this correct! If you are wanting to see if you can talk to someone on a simplex frequency, do you tune to the input frequency to see if you can hear them, and if so you should be able to talk to them on simplex frequencies? Is that correct?

A lot of ham radios have a button to push so you can instantly switch to the repeaters input frequency instead of manually tuning the input or having another memory programmed

Or you could just simply use a well known Simplex frequency, there are a lot of "standard" ones out there.
