Hello, I had a question, so basically is there any way to find out what site my department uses or is that automatic? I’ve realized that my scanner scans through all these sites that it cuts of the traffic on the main site my department uses. So my question really is, does my department use one specific site or does it just automatically connects to sites if that makes sense

From previous posts, looks like you might have an SDS100.

The typical things I'd suggest to check when you get clipped audio:
> scanning too much stuff (by the time the scanner gets back to your department, it has missed a second or two);
>> this could be too many sites also
> having close-call on;
> having priority turned on (as opposed to priority do-no-disturb).

Probably some other stuff to check, but these are the first items I would check.

As for your question about which sites, I believe it is any site(s) with which a subscriber radio on the system affiliates. I like @mc48's suggestion.

With out knowing your scanner setup and your location City, County, State you can not get a correct answer.
Sorry about that. It’s San Diego-Imperial County RCS NextGen Trunking System, Various, California - Scanner Frequencies I’m scanning mainly HCFA and CFA

What system are you asking about? Can you post a link to the system and post what dept your asking about?

Thanks for the info. I think it’s too many sites. I’ll take his suggestion thanks.

If you live in the "normal" areas of San Diego, the areas that you can drive an electric car without running out of battery before the next AC outlet...you need really only monitor Sites 41 South and 45 West...add 42 North if you live way up in Fallbrook Pala or Rainbow areas. Just go into your Sentinel or the Favorites Lists editor in the scanner menu and AVOID everything but those.
