Thanks - I'll be out in the car all day with the radio today again and see how it goes - (truly amazing that it receives so well sitting on the car seat with only the stock stick antenna on it!) - I hope to be online tonight and following your guidance.....I don't see my sending it back but either way I will do what I can when YOU can.....thanks again.......

So Joey here is a little project for you. When you get home or get a chance tonight if you could send a photo taken with your cell phone like the one I'm showing here of any talkgroup actually actively receiving something. Disregard the fact that our screens are markedly different as I customize mind heavily. You will have a lot more information on your screen that I would like to see. It will go a long way to give me the information I'm looking for. Press attach files and you will find it in your gallery, after it downloads to RR, press full image and Post.

On a break - here ya go (attached) - by the way, I'd be happy to drop the radio off at your place for however long you need to listen and decide if it is a radio that should be returned or just needs time and effort.....I can live without it for a while!

Okay some progress here oh, you're close but no cigar number one is you are on the wrong talk group you are on Ops 5 which is a full-time encrypted Channel... You want talk group 6 which is zone 5 dispatch in the clear. Second of all you are on simple display which gives me no information at all so while sitting on talk group 6 zone 5 press the big function knob and quickly press 9 and you will go to the detailed display that will give me the information that I need. If you can do that and get a good picture we are in business

Yep see my last post. Now that talk group is actually the dispatch for Zone 3. Just hit the big function knob and then 9 and give me that photo

If you had programmed the radio yourself off of Sentinel you would not program any of the full-time encrypted channels like County detectives or data lookups. It makes no sense to download talk groups that are full-time encrypted like the Ops channels or swat channels

Here's a pic of Zone 5 detailed but I don't know how to change to talk group 6! Is that from Sentinel where I'd find that?

Look at your detailed photo underneath where it says zone 5 and you will see tgid 6 that is the correct talk group for zone 5 dispatch. So let me take a look at this photo here.

I see the Zone 5 dispatch I took off Sentinel is TGID 6 - is that not correct? The only other Zone 5 is called OPS.....how do I determine which groups are encrypted so I'll delete them? Attaching a pic of available channels on Sentinel - will get a full detail of Middletown - never mind the pic of channels.....I'm advised it's too large

Okay... My diagnosis is everything is just fine with your radio. Everything is where it should be and your signal is terrific your RSSI is perfect and your noise level couldn't be better. The programming issues we can talk about later. As far as your reception and the way your radio is working everything is good to go

My home 20 eating pizza.
If you monitor more than one system on a favorites list then you have what's called housekeeping come into play. Paul had introduced a firmware update that eliminated housekeeping if you just monitored one system. Housekeeping was an interruption of reception briefly to do an inventory or check on other systems in the radio.

My county is in the process of converting from VHF high band to P25P2 at some point. Deadline was EOY 2020 but that’s not looking very likely. I missed seeing Paul mention this previously and have always stacked my favorite lists. When we actually start doing a buildout and system testing or when I do some traveling again I’ll have to adjust my programming.

Joey did you get that message about turning your squelch to 2 it should not be at zero. Also the noise jumped on Zone 3. It's Not Unusual to jump around but it's pretty high compared to the 400s

No worries, the radio is working fine. We might put a wide invert filter on and maybe put a system hold of one or two seconds just for shts and giggles.
