I guess one way is to purchase a used windows laptop on eBay and move on .
You can use your mac. There are lots of ways around the windows only sentinel software.
You could use Parallels or VmWare to run windows and use sentinel that way. Or you can use Wine and run sentinel on your mac. Another possibility is to use one of the chrome or java programs that monitor HP-1 radios and run those on the mac.
I have a mac and have never had a problem eventually getting everything I need to run to use Uniden Software. There is a lot of mac software that will support scanners of various types too, you just need to look around a little bit.
In addition, more and more iOS and Android apps are starting to appear in the scanner world.
WIndows is slowly phasing out. PC sales have consistently dropped. Mac sales have increased and iOS & Android sales are through the roof. The computing world changes fast and you just have to learn to adapt. Unfortunately Uniden chooses to stay with Windows because they appear to have limited manpower to try and support multiple platforms. That is the problem when you deal with a relatively niche market company.
