Thanks for the Siren App, I've installed it and is working fine. Question: I have android tablets, samsung and kindle fire and kindle fire hdx. Will it be long until an app will be available on these devices.

Thank you,
Tom

Check the version of your dongle and follow these instructions:
BCD536HPFirmwareUpdate < UnidenMan4 < TWiki

More than likely, your dongle is at version 0.00 now but the above page walks you through updating it.

I toggled the phone ringer switch above the volume buttons on the left side of the phone and the audio is now working.

I discovered this also. The programmer does not understand that the audio and the ringer are not treated the same. I silence the ringer on my phone 100% of the time, but all audio from apps work just fine - EXCEPT Siren.

SIREN APP

SETTINGS --> CONNECTION then enter the IP address of your scanner, which can be found on the scanner by:
MENU --> Wi-Fi Setup --> Show Wi-Fi Information

Note that the scanner and IPad must be connected to the same Wi-Fi.

I Would like to thank everyone who responded to my requests about the siren app.l finally got it to work. the ip address was wrong. After searching in the radio I found the ip I was using was only one number off and the scanner was not communicating with the phone. Works great. Like others have said, its about a 2 to 3 second delay in the phone.

what I hope uniden would do is walk us threw the steps on these radios like they said they would. I found out more information from other users who took there time to post videos and great information out there for the rest of us. I have both the 436 and the 536 from scanner master. when you ask them for help they want to charge you, so muck for customer service.
Thank you again for all your help. very muck appreciated.

I had the same problem. there is no instructions I saw. No one Really tells you how to set the ip address in your phone. Here's what I did. follow the wifi set up on page 33 of the Manual. The scanner should pick up the connection right of way.after that hit menu and go down to wifi info of the scanner. Use that ip address displayed and put it in app in your phone where it ask foe settings.

Sure wish I knew then what I know now about scanning. I sure wouldn't have purchased the Home Patrol. It's very limited , especially if you have a MAC

Would not really matter what scanner you bought. All of the software out their was made to run on windows no matter what manufacturer.

I guess one way is to purchase a used windows laptop on eBay and move on .

You can use your mac. There are lots of ways around the windows only sentinel software.

You could use Parallels or VmWare to run windows and use sentinel that way. Or you can use Wine and run sentinel on your mac. Another possibility is to use one of the chrome or java programs that monitor HP-1 radios and run those on the mac.

I have a mac and have never had a problem eventually getting everything I need to run to use Uniden Software. There is a lot of mac software that will support scanners of various types too, you just need to look around a little bit.

In addition, more and more iOS and Android apps are starting to appear in the scanner world.

WIndows is slowly phasing out. PC sales have consistently dropped. Mac sales have increased and iOS & Android sales are through the roof. The computing world changes fast and you just have to learn to adapt. Unfortunately Uniden chooses to stay with Windows because they appear to have limited manpower to try and support multiple platforms. That is the problem when you deal with a relatively niche market company.

I see an above poster said they were using it on an IPOD touch 5th Generation. Are there any generations of IPOD touch it will NOT work on?
