I am having connection issues - if I listen to scanner for a while then I have to kill the app to stop audio - I come back a few hours or day later... I can't connect to scanner anymore without a reboot of the scanner - I assume this is related to the app not stopping audio and a overflow or something.

Sort of a bad deal bug here.

Below is how the to revert back to the old app. I hope it works for you.
1. Delete the app from your iPhone.
2. Connect your iPhone to the computer and open iTunes.
3. Do not update your apps in iTunes. Back up and sync your iPhone using iTunes.
4. When the sync is complete, click your iPhone in the left iTunes menu under DEVICES. Click the Apps tab at the top of the iTunes window. Find the app you wish to downgrade under Sync Apps.
5. Make sure the box is checked next to the app you wish to downgrade. Click the Apply button.
6. The old version of the application will be copied from your computer to the iPhone.

Wait, where does iTunes get the old app version from? Does it get it from Apple? Or does it get the previous version from your last backup of your phone? I think that's more likely. But if that's the case I'm screwed, because I haven't backed up my phone for six or seven months, long before Siren was released.

New bug

If I have scanner running then have audio take over .. Let's say watching a video in Facebook app. The scanner app can't recover after Facebook stops playing sound - when you go back to the siren app it locks up and crashes to restart.

I did that for me too. I went back to the first version and got the Bluetooth feature that does not work in version 2.

I've given the latest Siren App some time to function in Access Point for my vehicle's scanner, which uses a "de-commissioned" iPhone 4 as the remote head.

I'm still seeing Sig:Null show up quite often, pretty much the same as it did with the initial release.

Also I have to go through the Settings>Connection each scanning session. It does not automatically re-start.

Bottom Line: Access Point pretty much functions the same way.

Siren App "World Wide"?

I noticed in an advertisement that you could use the App and listen world wide. I currently have the scanner connected to my home Wi-Fi network. Might be a silly question, but could someone explain to me how I can use the App and listen to my scanner AWAY from my home?

Thanks in advance!

There are some workarounds for now, but the Internet access isn't implemented yet in SIREN.

You have to set your router up using virtue private network "VPN" and the same on your iPhone
I have a Asus router and it was pretty simple to do. I now can stream siren outside of my home wifi network

Better yet - just post it in this thread so others can learn.

I have a ASUS router.I have VPN turned on with a user name such as "SCANNER" and password than save it..

1 You must go to your iPhone under general VPN and add a VPN Cconnection
2.Add the server ID from your router
3.Account is what you named it on your router.
4. Password is the password you used on VPN connection that you used on the router
5. Save it using PPTP
6.Last step is turn on VPN under settings on your phone

A completly useless application. They could have given us a real analyze feature as GRE has had for 5 years. Instead there are numerous problems and a bunch of crap no one needs.

Just my 3 cents. !!

Steps to setup a Asus router

The VPN server allows you to access your home network anytime, anywhere.
To use the VPN server. Please follow these steps.
(1) Enable the PPTP VPN server
(2) Set the IP pool for client IP. (Maximum 10 clients)
(3) Set up the username and password for VPN client.
(4) Open the VPN connection program on your computer or smartphone.
(5) Add a new PPTP VPN connection and the VPN server address is What's My IP Address? - Obsolete Browser Page

I just bought an iphone 4 off ebay fro 50 bucks. Has anyone been able to solve the reconnect issue? I plan on updating to ios7 or 8 when I get it.

Also, one thing I did not see mentioned in all the threads. Can the app be used to turn the scanner on and off?

I'm using an iPhone 4 and have reconnect issues - have to manually do it after every shut down. My "regular" iPhone 5 with IOS 8 will reconnect just fine. So if you can get IOS 8 into your iPhone 4, that might do the trick.

An even bigger issue, at least in my view, is that the "remote" will not control scanner volume. Hopefully they can deal with that. I suppose a remote speaker could be connected to the iPhone headphone jack, but that seems a little cumbersome.
