I still can't figure out how to disable FLs with the app. I can do system though. For example, If I hit quick key and enter 99 for the FL, nothing happens. However if I hit 99.1 I can turn off that system only. Do ALL lists and systems need to be activated first before using the app to turn them on or off? Also I noticed that I can't turn of a department. When I enter 06.75.17, that department remains active. Very Frustrating. I also noticed that since it can control squelch, maybe volume and on/off are not far behind.

Someone mentioned ( i can't find who, my apologies) that the App would turn FLS on and off while in infrastructure mode. I tried it today with no luck using an iphone 4. Hopefully this and other issues gets resolved soon as I need to move my scanner.

I too cannot find this function.

While I'm at it, I thought I'd post something that happened to me today. We had a power failure at home. When everything came back on, I saw where the Wifi IP address changed itself (infrastructure mode). Whether this was something the scanner/dongle did or the wifi router did, I don't know. Regardless it took me some headscratching to figure out why I was having trouble re-connecting the Siren App to the scanner.

Likely the DHCP server in the router. I really wish they would add fixed IPs in the scanner for non-DHCP networks.

ofd8001 you can go into your router and set / reserve the IP address for the scanner that way the scanner will always have the same IP address. I am running my 536 on 3 different networks that I run depending on if I am home or which station I am working at and the scanner will always have the same address you can also tell the router to give the scanner any address you want it to have and my 536 stores the info for all three address used on it I just have to tell it to connect which I wish would be fixed in the firmware is to connect if the network is in the connection list stored in the scanner.

If you are using the Siren App through your home's router (VPN) while you're away from home or on the road, aren't you using your cellular data at a rate that will be quite costly?

Won't you quickly exceed you data plan? Or, are you using an unlimited data plan?

If you are using an unlimited data plan, are you experiencing any throttling issues from you provider?

And, if you are constantly monitoring this way, will you still receive other data such as text messages?

firemantom26, yes, I realize it uses your cellular data. Maybe my question should've been, why would someone choose this method of monitoring if it's going to use up cellular data at such a high rate? Unless you have an unlimited data plan, it may not be a problem. But, if you have a limited plan, you'll quickly exceed that plan limit and will incur extra fees. Right?

fireman26, that makes sense. But, wouldn't you be outside of your home network when you are traveling, away from home in your car, and using the Siren App? Wouldn't your data, then, be traveling over your cell provider's data channels to reach your home network? I think that is when your data charges kick in and would add up.

Yes if you are passing data between your scanner at home and your iPhone away from home via the phone service provider's airwaves, it is counted in your data usage.

Now if you happened to stop somewhere and can tap your iPhone into another wireless network, such as at a hotel or business, then your data isn't traveling through the cell service provider's "pipeline" and there is not data consumption that way.

This is correct to the best of my knowledge

I see nothing updated for a while now - kinda crazy how slow development is - I think the USPS app will update before this one ;)
