If they do the customs paperwork / commercial invoice correctly there is no fee as it was already imported.

- shipped to Canada daily for several years. Also did truckloads of cross border warranty issues of over 1/4 million a load with no fee. (both ways)

So if you were sitting in Canada and had to ship the radio to Uniden at a cost of about $14 dollars, plus the possibility of $20-30 in customs charges on the return trip to get a stupid battery fixed would you think that was a good use of money?

Cost vs Benefit analysis my friend.. not worth it.

Anyone defending Uniden at this point in the game clearly has an alternate motive or was not blessed with the intellectual gifts.

Wonder if a quick Siren teaser video would be possible at this point?

If you choose not to get your broken scanner or whatever else fixed, then don't expect a lot of sympathy when you continue to complain that it doesn't work.

We really need a "like" button on this forum.

The update at the Siren Update thread has more and better information than the Twiki post.

I'm looking forward to the Android version and of course a working dongle.

Analyse is less important to me, but still will be interesting.

These scanners have a lot of potential, it will be nice to see it fulfilled.

Just 5 days into the month of January and I'm super stoked to watch this scanners missing features start to materialize. Although we'll have to wait for the Android version (which I use), I'll still be trying it out on the wife's iPhone for sure while I wait.

The "roadmap" that Paul eluded to also sounds promising. The additional future additions to the 536 have me intrigued as the potential for this scanner is most certainly there.

That being said, these "sugarplums" will continue dancing till then.

Still waiting...... Since Jan 2014

I have many Uniden Scanners.. They have, in the past, provided me with much entertainment and knowledge of surrounding events.. I've been waiting, (to purchase), on Uniden to work the bugs out of the 436/536 platform, for a solid year.. If it doesn't happen soon, I'll be going overseas for another brand, that costs about double, but does what Uniden, obviously, can't/won't do... Uniden could, at least, offer their loyal followers, like us, an explanation...

"Upman", please let me/us know current status of the 436/536 platform... I hope this "wait" hasn't been a marketing ploy to force the "early buyers" to buy again, the "2015 upgraded version" of the 436/536 design...... ? I watched that happen on a previous version,,,, that I refused to buy because of that...

We "need" a reliable company, in America, that can provide public information radios.. If the FCC has interfered too much, then the companies, and the People that purchase these products, need to protest FCC practices.. This Country is "supposed" to be ran by the People, after all...

Just curious, since I'm considering a uniden 536, what other brand are you looking at going to? I'm not familiar with any other scanner that will do what the 536 currently does, even excluding the siren and analyze functions.

Just need to make sure this "other" scanner will at least do the following:

1. Full US database.
2. Gps interface.
3. P25 phase 2
4. Sized for mobile use.

Since you're proposing this as an alternative to the 536/436 scanners and we're in the section to complain about what uniden hasn't delivered....I'm guessing it also has a working remote (Bluetooth or wifi) interface and some type of analyze function?

Thanks,
Jeff.

Are we getting closer? Last Siren Update, Jan 15 mentioned "If all goes well, iPhone app submission within 2 weeks". Hope all went well.

Hopefully Upman will let us know when they have submitted the app to Apple. That way we'll know whose court the ball is in and then it will be a couple of weeks for Apple to review and release it.
