I was unable to find the driver for the scanner. It was the original card will try to format a new card, but the other problem was the driver. I am thinking it's easier to get a new scanner, less problems. Had problems with the 800 from the get go. Spent a lot of time with tech support when I bought it.

For SIRN, getting a used BCD396T, PRO-106, PRO-197, or PRO-18 would be a lower cost option.

A PRO-96 or PRO-2096 would also work, although custom frequency tables have to be entered when one of those is programmed.

I understand that some new or open package Radio Shack digital scanners can be found for around $200, which is a pretty good price for a new digital scanner. Any new digital scanner would work on SIRN. If you have a Radio Shack that is closing near you, you might check it out, although a lot of times, the scanners are relocated to a store that is remaining open. Check ebay and Amazon as well.

I haven't checked but who do you refer they? State Police and Nicholas County has been digital for some time now. But jI will have to check if Fayette County did? I'm willing to sell a PRO-106 with data cable and both battery case (black and yellow). No manual or box if you want to drive down to Oak Hill for $250.00

1. Make sure you are looking at the TGID (Talk Group ID) and not the RID (radio ID)
2. See what tower it is coming from
3. If it is a new TGID, try to catch the RID. This will assist in who is using it.
4. Post what you find here and someone will be able to help
5. If it is indeed the TGID, and its not in the RRDB, you will need to listen to it and try to figure out what it is. Once you are certain what/who it is, submit it to the RRDB.

it's definitely a talk group ID, the line where the alpha tag would be just shows the group ID if it's not programmed in and that's where I'm getting the 7035 number. I'm listening on a pro-651 (also have a HP-1 but it doesn't pick up wildcard talk groups) How do I see what tower it's coming off of? Would I just use the control channel?

I just got into scanners about a year ago and just moved here from Omaha, Nebraska and due to the boredom of where I live have gotten a little more into seeing what's actually popping up on the scanner.

I haven't seen the ID light up since sunday evening, but I'm watching for it constantly. I'll post any info I come up with..

another new one I just caught was 7281 on CC 460.16250, need to set the radio back to showing radio ID's so I can catch them as well, going to do that now.

Unidentified TG's

TG 1706 & TG 7281, neither are in my master. If you can clarify ethier one of them, just submit them to the Data Base. Also the CC 460.1625 is Jackson County.

WVRRT

Tonight the Regional Response Team Tac 4 TG 1921 was busy, unmarked cars with air support. Don't think I should say much more. Didn't think to grab UID's.

tonight I'm picking up talkgroup 7301, UID 730002, sounded like law, but I'm going to listen a while longer for some more now that I've locked onto it and paused there.

it was coming in on control channel 452.40000 which is the town of kenna in Jackson county

another radio ID 731610 made the call "rescue-1 to dispatch" then it was just something about trees blocking something, there was also another call from rescue-7 to dispatch, so not sure what this would be considered EMS, or some other type of services since were under a bad snow storm tonight that's caused a lot of acidents this evening

ALSO picked up group 7305 again tonight UID 730001 ( watching for more activity on it now )

New Wiki page for SIRN Radio IDs

Just an fyi that I've added a new category for radio ids to the SIRN wiki page - WVSIRN Radio IDS - The RadioReference Wiki
At this point it's arranged by broad categories with the range of radio ids I've noted as monitored on the Berkeley County site. I have not gone into detail as to Rids on specific talkgroups such as local PDs, EMS, Fire Companies, local governments etc.

Local Id's

I'm a little confused, Radio ID's and unit's associated with the radio ID. Wouldn't we find more interest with say fire truck (Ladder truck) ****** , so we know what unit's are out on call? Ambulance 12 is (******)?

That level of documentation of radio IDs is an issue from multiple standpoints;

a. who wants to edit the wiki for every radio Id that they know?

I suppose if you know 12345 is Hotter Than Hell VFD Pumper 2, you can feel free to edit the wiki and add it.

b. you [we] do not want anybody to add anything too personalized

67890 Ground Force 1 (Barack Obamas Golf Cart) -- that would be too much information

c. 60,000+ radio Ids listed in the wiki is just way too cumbesome.

Ranges are good "86xxx = Agency #1" is good stuff.

Adding 1000 Radio IDs under the heading of "Agency #1" probably isn't.
