Unless I find a lucky spot I wasn't able to find it. When scanning today I did find a site but I did not write down its number but it was so weak I could not get any kind of reading on it.

Jeff,

Are you using Pro96Com? If you can monitor the Welch sites and pull the peer/neighbor information, right beside the 2-035 it shows the frequency of the control channel of that site as well.

Jeff,

First, thanks for providing the updated site neighbor info. I modified the various sites that needed the neighbors to be updated.

Also thanks for sleuthing out Panther.

On to how you got the updated site neighbors -- I'm guessing you obtained the updated site neighbor listings from Pro96Com or Unitrunker. If so, in the 'Peers' tab of Unitrunker or the 'Site Information' tab of Pro96Com you will see the 2-035 site and then a frequency next to it. That frequency is the current control channel of Site 2-035.

Mike, I'm using UT with pro-106. Some places here in Beckley picks up those on a skip. I know I have seen UT show what the freq. should be from other sites but I have seem them be incorrect. At best I would have to find time to go down on Kopperston Mountain before I would be close enough to get those towers down south west from here. Kopperston is 30 min south from here and Welch driving time is 90min away.

Jeff,

Thanks man. Well, even if you recorded them via skip, if it displayed enough in UT for you to see the Peers tab populate, it should have populated it with frequencies. Then again maybe not . It has been a while since I've used UT on P25 systems. I'm using a Pro-197 and a PC/IF cable fed in, rather than a discriminator tap.

That's proof enough to me that the site is online though. So it's now listed. When somebody is able to determine the active control channel, we'll just flag it as such. The control channel would likely be one of those listed in the DB [now].

Looks like only two sites left in Southern WV to come online at some point -- Salt Rock and Williamson. You guys down south are chock full of SIRN sites these days.

Thanks again man.

I'm willing to bet that Diana & Glenville are also online. I'll be heading north tomorrow for a day and will see if I can help with these. A radio friend of mine had informed me that Diana was online, though. I just checked again and I'm getting a weak cc on 460.1500. If I could get a better decode on Webster I would run PRO96COM and see if it showed this as a neighbor (which it should). I'll see what I can find out tomorrow:)

The SIRN is really coming along now

Thanks, Chad. I just confirmed both Gilmer and Diana online. I copied Diana direct this morning during good tropo conditions. All kinds of WV sites were copied, and I added the two sites and updated site neighbors for many others.

Definitely things are coming along now. Jeff found Panther last night, and now these two. And in the past month Kanawha Head, Spencer and Grantsville were confirmed.

Mike,
If you look here on this shot you will see Glen Jean is showing to run off on 460.3625 same as Ansted. Glean Jean is running at 454.050 and Ansted running on 453.700. The 2-035 is showing on other sites show 464.8125 and another showed it at 468.8125. I like to get White Sulphur site.

Jeff, is there a question in there somewhere? I'm unclear the point you are trying to make. Are you simply showing me how Unitrunker is prone to bad data if the signal isn't good? If so, I concur.

Rick (Unittrunker) is goin to shoot me for saying this, but what you show is exactly why I actually use Pro96Com. Unitrunker seems to be way too prone to pollution/corruption of data when weak signals/bad data streams are partially decoded. I rarely if ever see that kind of corruption via Pro96Com. Of course Pro96Com is simply reading data from a PC/IF port of a scanner, and if the scanner sends data to Pro96Com with bad checksums or whatever, Pro96Com just ignores it -- and so I don't see that garbage.

This morning, when I managed to get in front of the computer at about 9:30, I happened upon about 30 minutes of great tropo prop that allowed me to reliably copy control channel data from 14 WVSIRN sites. It was great. I live for those moments [at least as far as scanner monitoring goes]. I suspected this was going to happen because, when I went to bed at 3 am, I saw signs of it. I wish I would have been up from 6 am onward.

I had the beam pointed down towards Pennsboro area (from up here in Jefferson Co Ohio).

It's always good to make note of things like temperature inversions. You can usually find nice propagation around those times.

No question just pointing out that with Unitrunker that I don't always get the right neighbor control channels. The only funny thing when I was doing this I had a dip in the signal when I try to copy it. Not sure from the way I was moving around in the car or if its another issue with the windows 8 laptop that I'm having.

Yikes. You sleuth trunked systems while mobile. I'm impressed.

I know you said you are using a PRO-106. Are you using the Inline receiver in UT and the PC/IF cable? Or are you using a discriminator tap and feeding the audio into the sound card? I'd guess you are using the Inline receiver. But I wouldn't expect you to have as much difficulty with corrupt data using the Inline receiver / PC-IF.

I've been experimenting with SDR# and Unitrunker lately. I have this from the Martinsburg site -

Peers - 001-002 453.25000
001-023 453.41250
001-026 460.61250
001-027 453.33750

Thank you. That information matches what we have in the database for 1-007 Martinsburg.

If you monitor the Martinsburg site for any length of time with Unitrunker, it might be interesting to compare your list of frequencies in use vs the ones listed for site 1-007 in the database. Not the peer frequencies, but the actual site frequencies (in another tab).
