Anyone know what the base frequency or frequencies are that are being used by the subscriber units (not on a scanner) of this system? I assume it's 450.0000 but i'm not close enough to monitor.

Typical +5 mhz split.

xxx.xxxx repeater out
xxx.xxxx + 5.000 = repeater in (mobile transmit freq)

Typically [but not always] on SIRN, the trunked system transmitters are on 453 and 460 mhz whilest the radios are transmitting on 458 and 465 mhz respectively.

On an OBT trunking radio, there must be a base frequency or series of frequencies set so that the radio knows where to begin counting up from in steps to reach the correct voice frequency. It's similar to the band plan for a Type-II system when programming a scanner, it just applies to the radios on the system.

Would any of these work? If not any suggestions?

We are looking to get radios for all of our crew members for our EMS agency.

Because I am asking specifically about SIRN. If I had a general question I would have posted it in the Motorola forum. It can be different for every system, so here I am in the WV forum since the subject at hand is SIRN.

I'm sure someone on the board knows what I am talking about and can hopefully answer my question, which is just a simple question and there is no need to try and read into it any further or jump to conclusions.

Sir, just want to let you know, only certain radios are authorized for use on the system. It can be found here on the SIRN approved equipment list:

Also on this page you may find a participation application as well...any agency wanting to use the SIRN needs to go through a process and be approved, not to mention have a certified radio programmer program the assets procured. Further info can be found on the website provided above.

Bert - you may have missed that there are two different people asking questions about the radios - one out of state, and one in Elkins. The one in Elkins is looking to get SIRN radios.

The Raleigh County Sheriff's Office recently got a good deal on digital radios from Electronic Communications located in the Kanawha Valley. Might be worth asking that company for a quote or a bid. That's not a recommendation to buy from them but rather a recommendation to get more info.

What you need to use on the statewide (SIRN) system are P-25 digital radios, not cheaper DMR digital radios.

Two Construction Notifications were filed by SIRN to the FCC recently for the following sites:

1-xxx Brushy Run (Cave Mountain)
1-xxx Circleville (Hunting Ground)

The Construction Notification "suggests" that the site has been built out; however, that does not mean the site is active. One or both of the sites may be active or may become active in the near future.

Those living in the above general areas should be on the lookout for newly active SIRN sites in those locations.

Wiki Info for the above two sites (ignore the 900x site numbers)

Be on the lookout for active control channels at those two locations based upon the frequencies listed in the Wiki. Additionally, they could potentially come online using control channels in the 454-455 mhz range, so it would make sense to also periodically scan that area for a potential new site as well.

If you happen to discover a new site online, please post the info here and submit it to the DB as soon as possible so that others may benefit.

Control channel of 453.6625 found. According to the wiki it is from the Circleville tower in Pendleton County.
