The RR entry for the system should list county, so I’d start with that column. Search for the sites in your county and all the counties that touch your county.

Tell us where you are for starters? What country, state etc. What are you trying to listen to?

Regards Richard
United States, Iron county UT, Would just like to listen to the local d p s ,ems, fire stuff that I have been listening 24 twenty three years that have now been digital on seven hundred megahertz trunked You can hear dispatch call out on 2 m analog. But you can't hear the reply. You can only hear one side of the conversation. It's hard for me to get along. I'm disabled veteran and that's about all I have to do is my ham radio and listen to scanners traffic. This has been very perplexing.I do not know anything about digital.
No

To expand on what jt said, if you click on the site name, it will take you to the site page. If you scroll down a bit, you'll see a Google Map representation of the *approximate* coverage area of that site. As a rule of thumb, if you're within the red circle, you should be able to hear that site. If you're not close to the circle, you probably won't be able to hear that site. If you're near the edge, well, maybe.
Keep in mind that there are many variables, including the terrain between you and the site, your antenna type, height, and what's between the antenna and radio.

OP stated Iron County Utah in their first post. Comms appear analog conventional here

Click the callsign in the license column of whatever station you want to research, you'll get a site summary & map there

You might also watch the Utah forum - they are working hard to determine al the Talkgroups on the brand new 700MHz system going in.

what I am getting from op post is he is trying to obtain the 700 mhz freqs. Iron county pd and fire are on the trunked system so they may not be using analog fully anymore. He would need the Utah trunked system.

And by way of explanation, the 'T' in the mode means that these talkgroups are using Phase II, so you would need a Phase II compatible scanner to hear this.

Mike
if the OP is using just a ham radio to listen , they can only hear analog on most ham radios, with the exception of DMR ham or Fusion or Brandmeister... No Ham radios do P25 to my knowledge. OP would definitely need a scanner if Iron doesn't go enc....

signals yes , to actually listen to voice no. I'm sure he doesn't want to hear digital noise, I'm sure they want to hear actual traffic or voices...

Finding the control channels is just step 1 in the process. Besides, figuring out how radios and radio systems work is the real fun here. Listening to traffic gets old fast. A great thing about radio hobbies is that there's always something new to explore and learn.

I'm not sure how this thread thing operates. But I'm not trying to scan.Digital with a dual band ham rig and I know how to input frequencies
I'm actually torn on the best digital rig to get to scan 700MHz. trucking P25 traffic. In my area, there is 6 different sites around me. All putting out traffic on 700MHz frequencies.thanks

Only two receive 700 mHz P25 phase II trunking reliably. The Unisen SDS100 handheld or the SDS200 desktop. Others say they will, but on simulcast site they don’t. Believe me, I have tried them all.
Looks like you’re in the Cedar City area. All Iron County traffic is NOT encrypted, so you can receive everything there. All Police traffic in Washington County IS Encrypted. You can’t get ANY of those. Fire & EMS in Washington County is NOT encrypted and can be received. I’m in St. George and can receive Iron County traffic here. Hope this helps.

Last time I was in Utah, they had just started deploying the P25 sites. The legacy trunking system used a multicast schema, not simulcast for most areas of the state. It appears that the new 700 P25 system is also multicast for the most of the state, and the 700 system in Iron County is using multicast sites. If @Brejames1 is listening from a fixed position and doesn't travel to areas that use simulcast, then he doesn't need an expensive SDS series radio since signalling is only coming from one physical tower site. A 325 or 436/536 should work fine - or even TRXs.
