For those of you on the email lists or forums that I am cross posting this to, you have my apologies for having to see this message multiple times.
For the list owners/moderators, I apologize for the slightly off topic, yet on topic post.
I simply want to reach as many New Jersey scanner enthusiasts as possible.

I've been thinking that something is missing for the New Jersey scannist.
To try and rectify what I think is missing, I have created a new yahoo group that I hope you will join.

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/scan-nj/

This new group is not meant to take the place of the existing groups or forums, but to expand on them.

I would like see us have the following.
1. A dedicated web site.
2. Regular face to face meetings.
3. Frequency downloads in multiple formats.
4. Training classes for the beginning scannist.

I'm sure that we can accomplish this and more. This is just what I have come up with this morning while having my coffee.

I already own the scan-nj.com domain, and have plenty of bandwidth to cover the downloads section.
Over the next week or so, I will purchase a new domain and remove everything not specifically related to New Jersey.

I'll need some membership support to make everything else happen.

Thank You, and I hope to see you on the new Scan-NJ list.

Thanks for the suggestion, but it doesn't fit what I want to accomplish.

I'm already on the NNJ list, CNJ list and the Philly/S. Jersey list. What I want to do is bring all of them together and include some things that are not a part of these groups.

Regular face to face meetings immediately come to mind. Many of us travel to other parts of the state for different events. It would be nice to know someone from that area and maybe get a little inside information on what frequencies are most active.

Hypothetically if someone from Bergen county decides at the last minute to travel to the NJ Fesival of Ballooning in Somerset county. He could possibly phone one of the local scannists that he has already met for frequencies.

This is simply not possible with only a mailing list or message board for information. The emails are delayed and someone in the know would have to be online simultaneously.

Hi Larry the cable guy and readers,

Let's take this in small, easily chewable bites.

"This new group is not meant to take the place of the existing groups or forums, but to expand on them."

How do you hope to accomplish that since most are full of hot air and some compressed flammable gas already?

"I would like see us have the following."

So would I, so far too many chiefs and too few Indians.

"1. A dedicated web site."

You're on one right now.

"2. Regular face to face meetings."

You provide the club house, transportation and refresments and I'll join in a heartbeat. I like free food and the chance to get out of the house.

"3. Frequency downloads in multiple formats."

They're all over the Internet as it is.

"4. Training classes for the beginning scannist."

Go to scanning college, get a degree and tenure, then we'll have one qualified teacher rather than a flock of varied opinions and ideas.

"I'm sure that we can accomplish this and more. This is just what I have come up with this morning while having my coffee."

Have another cup, you're not fully awake yet. (;->)
