Wally, thanks much for the updates for Rockville and Little Creek. Great timing, I'll be down there next week.

Roger, thanks for the report on the great coverage on Scipio and Frisco.

Yes, Thank You!

I'm heading down for the weekend on the 16th weather permitting. I'm sure we'll all be taking notes.......

If anyone is doing a run down I-15 Nephi to Cedar City, would be great to see if Scipio and Frisco are still running the same control channels.

They are to the best of my knowledge. I heard traffic on both last weekend to and from the St. George/Mesquite area.

Good info - thanks.

One area where I get a blank spot is just south of Cedar City downhill until I get closer to St George. Not sure what site to add to fill that gap. It all goes dark for about 25 miles or so. (UHP talkgroups).

Toquerville fills that gap. About the top of Black Ridge I pick up Windy Ridge and/or Big Mountain briefly. Mostly Windy......

Program these in and you'll hear traffic from the UT/AZ Border to Provo on 15:

St. George Simo
Toquerville
Windy Ridge
Big Mountain
Frisco Peak
Gillies Hill
Cedar Mountain (Millard)
Scipio Pass
Levan Peak
Ut County Simo
Lake Mountain

Thanks - I had Toquerville for awhile, but I never got a hit from any UHP talkgroups off of that. I conquer Windy Ridge comes in around Cedar City. I have the same setup, but I dropped Toquerville due to lack of UHP traffic. Once I get closer to St. George, I start picking them up again off St. George Simo.

Just fyi I went to Moab last weekend, no new info as of yet. No trunking in downtown Moab, just trunking between Green River and Canyonlands Airport which is 18 miles from Moab. Which is just Colorado DTRS from Abajo... But no UCAN Systems for Moab area at this time that is active... We will keep searching...

Yeah I went to Moab last summer and only got conventional radio traffic. I think the main movement on UCAN is the I-15 corridor and less so in the outback.

You may have had some sort of programming error, or maybe things were just quiet during the time you monitored UCAN off of Toquerville, as I do regularly monitor that site, and hear UHP-Virgin area & other local public safety on it.

I agree that the Toquervillle Hill site does not provide great coverage Northward towards Cedar City.

It should be programmed correctly. I've disabled it for over a year, so I'll give it a shot again tomorrow. I have all of I-15 covered except that descending valley south of Cedar City to 20 miles north of St George. Happy Scanning.

Drove to Las Vegas today from SLC. Hurricane site reception is very weak on I-15, so I'm dropping it. I was able to receive UHP traffic on Toquerville Hill site - thanks it does work so I will leave it enabled again. I got decent strong signal overlap beetween Toquerville and St George Simo. There's just a small 5 mile dead spot when losing Windy Ridge south of Cedar City and before you are in range of Toquerville Hill.

I also got a lot of one-way conversations as I could hear UHP dispatch on UCAN, but no trooper. About half of the conversations were one way. I suspect a lot of their units are still running old conventional radios. On my return trip I will scan both UCAN and the old conventional channels, see how that pans out.

You are going to get that because Iron County is still conventional. the one-way conversations are usually Whiskey units ( 1 Whiskey, 2 Whiskey, etc) which are County and city units (PD's). Cedar dispatch does all agencies in Iron and does the UHP in Washington, AZ Strip units, Iron, Beaver and Millard.

Millard and Beaver SO's have their own dispatch and UHP does sometimes use their channels as well for traffic enforcement as well as the SO's working the freeway. I run both from Utah County on down.
