Project 25, in the way that everybody here refers to it, is just the use of IMBE modulation, the standard set by APCO for digital transmission. This digital modulation is used in VHF High Band, UHF, and 700/800 MHZ. Another term you may hear it go by is APCO CAI, or Common Air Interface. It can be Simplex, Half Duplex, Repeated, and of course trunked across any of these bands. There are VHF HI, UHF 406, 460, T-Band, and 700/800 Project 25 trunk systems nationwide, and the likewise single repeaters in these bands, minus 700 MHZ as of now, that are P25 conventional.
Back to the thread, glad to see San Antonio operational now in P25. That means it can't be too long before Bryan and Houston switch over in my little neck of the woods.
