I have been noticing that sometimes when an officer ends his conversation with dispatch, there is a worble type
sound. Anyone know what this is, I just started hearing it within the last two week.

I hadn't noticed that, but I will give them a listen today and see if I hear it.

It seems to be when there is car to car only. I don't hear it on car to base.

I am pretty sure it is with the hand held radios and not the car radios.
I am believe it transmits data (the radio number) so dispatch can tell who is transmitting.

I've heard this a bunch as well. St Thomas uses a mix and match of HT1000 portables and MT2000 portables. Jedi radios are rather known for producing a howling/warbling sound. Sounds to me like they just need to be tweaked some.

Don't worry, it isn't a sign of impending encryption!!

Encryption is no longer a word I recognize, I have striken it from all dictionaries (that I own) lol.

Anyways, I just wanted to say that I also feel that it happens either car to car or portable to portable only.

I did notice that they have nice shiney new cruisers. They were having a problem with one of those new cruisers in that the tire pressure warning was comming on. Apparently this has been happening a lot with that cruiser. I found it funny as I was told a couple of years ago that cars would be coming out with this new feature. I suppose it is a good feature until it screws up and then more things to go to a mechanic for.
Also if you replace the tire you also have to replace the rim as they come together. Okay so that will be $150 for the tire $140 for the rim, $60 dollars for the maechanic to install and balance and put in nitrogen gas opposed to air. Pretty soon we'll all need two jobs, one to support the car and one to support yourself lol.
