Well, let me be the first and wish everyone a belated Happy New Year.

Some ISP changes to note on January 1st...the return of the C-Charles radio signatures! But...it's not the return of District-Chicago, but I suspect they have given the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officers (CVO's acronym on the radio), they're own designation now. By doing some listening, it appears these officers are making "M-Stops" (Commercial Motor Vehicle Inspection stops), or "T-Stops" (Commercial Motor Vehicles which commit traffic violations stops). By using the C-Charles designation, it makes it easier for the Troop TC's to find a CVO if they're requested, or for supervisors to know if they're on the patrol they're assigned.

In Troop 3, they don't have any specific assigned talk groups, just the talk group of the patrol they're assigned...at least so far. Previously, they were assigned to DC-A, so that remains to be seen if anything changes.

I've noted a few Troop 3 radio ID's are now using the C-Charles radio signatures. The C-Charles radio signatures have also being used within the past year by TWI's (Truck Weight Inspectors) at various Weigh Stations state wide (C-200 series).

So, keep your ears open (and no, you're not hearing things) for the C-Charles radio signatures in the troops you monitor statewide. As time progresses, I'm sure they'll be more heard. It "appears" they're using seniority with C-40, C-41,C-45, C-54 heard in Troop 3. C-1 through C-199 will be assigned to the CVO's is my guess.

This may be a bit off topic and far away from Troop 3. This question is about a radio signature I heard from Troop 8. About 03:30 heard X-101 with the dispatcher answering X-101. They did not use the slang X-ray, just X. I heard the traffic on TG 17001.

What is a X unit? Sorry I don't have much info for you. I live right on the edge if Starcom signals in St. Louis and don't often monitor IL on a regular basis. They have the antennas tuned/turned as to keep signals from escaping IL. :)

Which site were you monitoring? I know in the past as @werinshades mentioned it was always the way they identified Troup 10 units to avoid confusion with the "10 codes" but still curious where you heard this.

Either the St. Clair Co simulcast (359) or a regular Starcom site (323). I was half asleep when I heard the radio trafgic.

Ok thanks, I don't listen to 359 often unless I'm that way but I may not have the right TG's in there to see if any X-Cars come across that. Next time I'm over that way I'll put the unication on wildcard for 359 and see what I can hear. That's gonna get awful busy though :)

Yes, it will be busy. St. Clair County site 359 includes just about every entity within its limits. But it is very good listening.

On occasion I have one pager on St. Clair county and the other on Madison county simulcasts,(Madison is where I live) and I'll tell you, that St. Clair county one, is never quiet for long! Thanks!

Grundy Co and Morris were using TGs 2429 and 2430 but they now use TG36029 and 36030 "ENC" instead but the FD is open mode,...

I just noticed an oddity with the Tazewell County PD1 dispatch talkgroup. I'm hearing the sheriff and PD units on PD1 (TG 37237) but the dispatcher is on TG 37201 (which is labeled "Tazewell County ETSB" in the Radio Reference database).

You can listen to both talkgroups on the Open MHz website by using this link OpenMHz .

The Tazwell County PD1 dispatcher is back on TG 37237 at this time.
