Starcom 21 Central IL

the past few days or weeks my scanners have went dead for the starcom channels for central IL like Decatur, Springfield, Champaign etc. State police dist 6-9-10 which have been working for years have now disappeared apparently they have moved to other frequencies. So my question for help can anyone here shed any light ??

Did your tower sites change ? Maybe try picking a alternate tower if there's one close to you?

ok I can do the posting but there is nothing wrong with my scanners but with the feed that is programmed and has been working for years.

I had a problem with my Radio Shack Pro 652 not picking up traffic a week ago. I could not get the tracking channel. I started turning off things in my home. I had a Verizon 4G cell phone extender interfering. Turned it off now my scanner is working. Your home network may be interfering. Just a sugestion.

You mention "Disticts" 6, 9 & 10. Remember, the districts have been replaced by troops. Along with that, many talkgroups have been moved around or switched. Are you getting any signal at all from any of the sites in your area?

No and its not anything in my home as was mentioned blocking another ham in my city scanner has went silent also. I even attached my outside antenna @60 ft and nothing. So I am thinking they must have moved there frequencies and was hopeful someone here in Decatur had the answer

Can you see if you are getting the Control channels? Are you getting any traffic on you scanner at all? I E other agencies NOT on StarCom?

I suspect I am not getting the control channels but for years both scanners were working perfect until a few weeks ago when both stopped on Starcom 21 IL state police along with another ham whistler scanner across town from me but yes getting other agencies along with ham repeaters and the weather ch. it has been years since I programmed it I was using Win 500 which I don’t have a download any more on my updated computer so on the Grecom and radio shack scanners what would folks recommend now going to ?

What software are you using to program I was using Win 500 I think it was but lost that with new computer so needing software for Grecom & RS

For starcom depends what you have available to you if you have a computer get a software defined radio dongle under $50 if you want the scanner uniden SDS series is the way to go.

Also @K9CRT did you see my post in the starcom thread. More than likely they switched to a new site which is why you're not picking up the old one The information for that is in that thread

I bought the new software, got a premium RadioReference membership used it to populate my scanner with the latest Talkgroups and StarCom sites.
Cost me around 60 bucks. I used my old Radio Shack cable. These are very complicated scanners to manually program.
I got my software at Scanner Master.
