I have three RSchack groundplane antennas in my attic with low loss coax coming down a cloths Shute into my family room where my scanners are located and they work very well, I can hear T1-02 which is in So Chicago Hts. I have a tri-level so they have added height....I don't know your situation but a small 700-800 MHz Beam with good short run coax would probably do wonders for you ,....

Hey Everyone,
Quick question, I have an SDS100 and I monitor the Will/Grundy Site and I'm wondering if my signal is weak because of the stock antenna I'm using or because there's a cell tower nearby or because I'm not close to the tower which Is about 3 miles away. If it is the antenna is the Remtronix antenna a good one, if so which exact one should I get for Starcom21? I'm in the Plainfield area trying to reach sites 1 and 3 of callsigns WRAQ940 WRAQ941 Thanks.

If your transmitter is 3 miles away, the stock antenna should be fine. I don't think youre having a signal problem. What is the issue that you are having? Does it go away if you step outside? If not, then its probably not some sort of interference, since Starcom21 is designed for any portable to key up with a good signal.

I have the ATT off my filter set to wide Normal for that specific site and I'll either get a clear signal sometimes or I won't hear a response or it'll garble. My RSSI is around -60dBm and it'll jump around. My squelch is at 2 as well. Should the ATT be on or off?

I think you should also create a System using Tower/ 1-26 at the Aurora Outlet mall to your north and another using Tower/1-01 located in Dupage Co,... When I'm in your area using my 325P2 on Rt59 there are spots I can receive those towers with the 800 MHz rubber duck in the car,...

I actually have both programmed on my SDS100. I don't really use my 325P2 because since it has trouble I really can only pick up the Will County P25 system and the scrolling knob is kinda broke it goes crazy when I try and turn it.

Around 0715 Hrs. this morning on Cook County's analog Net-10 (Hickory Hills, Bedford Park, Summit PD's), the Hickory Hills Dispatch center announced for everyone to switch over to Suburban Dispatch-3. I started ID Searching and found a possible new/undocumented talk group 25313 (encrypted) with frequent traffic on Cook County Site 5-02. Net-10 has been silent.

I've yet to hear Justice or Willow Springs PD traffic on Net-10 this morning, but can't confirm they're using the same talk group.

All departments are back on Net-10 as of 1500 Hrs. They've been having frequent reception issues on Net-10 so possibly a maintenance upgrade.

Looks like I updated the Radio Reference database too soon! On the plus side, you've IDd a new SC21 talkgroup and a possible candidate for where they might end up if they make the move to SC21. Nice catch!

It's not the first time they've switched over to this channel on their radios, so it might be a secondary dispatch channel or one of the Cook County reserve channels?. Most other times it was very brief, but this time it was a little more formal. I did hear they were using portables to dispatch. Another thought I had was the possibility they were upgrading all the sites for P25 Conventional? I'll keep an ear to it since it's always on here.

Did you catch any RIDs (or RID ranges) that were in use on TG 25313? I've gotten RIDs in the 57734xx range when I hear Summit PD put out ISPERN messages on Chicago Priority.

I did see them, but didn't document since it was encrypted.

I am now suspecting that Decatur, Macon Co have switched to phase 2 can anyone confirm or deny this on Starcom 21
Doug K9CRT Decatur
Was able to pull in enough signal from the "new" site 2-64 for the first time in a while, Macon County and Decatur are confirmed to still be Phase I. If you haven't changed your control channel in your programming yet, that's the only reason why you're not hearing anything that you were before the switch.

This morning, I heard Iroquois County EMA (RID 8000182, alias IS CD1) performing a radio check with National Weather Service Chicago (RID 410331) on SC21 TG 30306, Illinois Region 3 Call. I checked the Radio Reference SC21 wiki and there were no previous 8000xxx RIDs listed.

When I checked my Unitrunker logs, I also found RIDs 8000150 and 800176 (alias IS V26). These last two had previously either affiliated with or transmitted on TG 30328 (Illinois Calling - Statewide). I've added all three RIDs to the SC21 wiki.

Word is that the Iroquois County Sheriff's Department will be moving to STARCOM21 "soon". No word yet on possible new talkgroups, etc.
