East Sparta Fire / Tri-Division Ambulance was testing pager tones & radios on 45078 yesterday. I was informed by an officer on their department that they will be going full time on MARCS this month. This would leave Marlboro Twp Fire as the lone Stark county agency still on a conventional repeater.

Agree - I don't think that it's a bad idea - regardless if the Motorola Type II is out of date or not, jumping on the MARCS system will enable better communication between agencies because they'll be using the same radio system - my only point of contention with the city of Massillon is going encrypted - I understand TAC channels being encrypted (Canton is totally encrypted - their PD) which I understand why for their agency, but the city of Massillon? Unless there is a drug cartel moving into the city; and even if so, I doubt they care to buy a $600 police scanner to do their business and listen to a police radio . . . . non the less - it'll be an interesting transition.
I agree bout encryption. All they need to do is leave dispatch tg alone, tac, swat, etcor whatever, ok, I get that but this just blanket encryption is terrible.

East Sparta FD / Tri-Division EMS are now full time on MARCS. All Stark County FD's are now moved over. I can finally retire my analog scanner. Anyone wanna buy a BCT15X?

Thanks for the info.
Can you submit it to the database so they can get rid of all those useless analog channels that get downloaded on GPS scanning?

The Stark County conventional database needs a lot of cleanup. Many of those frequencies have not been used in years

OK. You all need to submit the things that have not been used in years. We can’t do it for you; you live there and are familiar with what hasn’t been used in years.

However, many agencies retain their conventional systems for some years for backup purposes or mutual aid use; we won’t delete items (such as channels that have been recently discontinued for the switch to MARCS) unless it’s confirmed that they’re no longer in use and the equipment removed from service.
