That was a single analog repeater in Carroll Co
a. In no way would that provide coverage for their service area
b. license is expired, repeater hasn't been online in ages to my knowledge
c. they would never go back to analog (they need encryption)
d. If they changed to DMR or P25 or something else, with encryption, they still don't have the coverage
d. others have already confirmed with people they knew at EMT, who stated that EMT is using a Push-to-Talk solution on their phones

You should visit EMTs website and see for yourself what their coverage area is. It's pretty much from Youngstown south to Belmont Co. that's why they were on MARCS. And naturally, if they were to leave MARCS (and they have), they would require something that provided similar coverage + ENC. Thus their push-to-talk solution that they are using.

What MotorTRBO system are you referring to? EMT has facilities up and down eastern Ohio and in Northern Panhandle of WV. The only MotoTRBO system to cover the majority of that area is TriConnex. I parked on various TriConnex sites all day, and there was no sign of EMT (or any new unknown encrypted talkgroups).

So if they went to a MotoTrbo system, it'd be nice if you would share what MotoTrbo system you believe that to be.

No sign of them on MARCS today. And historically, both EMT MARCS talkgroups were very active, especially on MARCS sites in Stark / Carroll / Harrison Cos.
Like i said, i am not familiar with MotorTRBO so i am not sure what system they are on exactly. I was told this by someone that works for them. i have tried reading on it a little but still trying to understand it.

I believe EMT inc. And Stark summit have switch from the MARCS system to the Mototrbo DMR system. Anyone know more about this and if you’re able to monitor them? I’m not familiar with DMR systems. I know their Marcs channels were encrypted.

CenCom Dispatch Center to close, possibly merge with Alliance

NIMISHILLEN TWP. ‒ CenCom Dispatch Services will close operations after struggling financially.

Trustees met with Nimishillen Township Fire Chief Adam Gladysz around noon Wednesday to discuss the matter in executive session.

After the meeting, Gladysz released a statement:

"After careful consideration and extensive discussion, the Board of Trustees and I have decided to close our dispatch center. Starting September 4th, 2024, our Administration initiated discussions with the City of Alliance to explore the potential for a strategic merger. Our primary goal is streamlining operations, enhancing safety, and ensure the longevity of 911 services in response to the growing demands of technological advancements and innovation. By consolidating our resources, we will be able to streamline processes, which will ultimately enhance the safety and well-being of the residents we serve, as well as our agencies and first responders."

CenCom has nine dispatchers and serves 11 communities. It has given those communities a 60-day notice that the dispatch center will close, Gladysz said.

Communities served are Louisville, Osnaburg Township, Nimishillen Township, East Sparta, Hartville, Perry Township and North Lawrence. Tri-Division EMS and Uniontown police and fire departments also contract with CenCom and would be impacted.

"We understand that this change may bring about concerns and uncertainties. Please know that our commitment to our employees, agencies, and community remain unwavering. We are dedicated to making this transition as smooth as possible and will provide support and resources to assist everyone affected by this change," Gladysz said.

In conclusion, he added: "We agree this is the best course of action to maintain the high standards of service andsafety that our community expects and deserves. We are confident that this proposed collaboration will lead to more efficient operations and improved outcomes for all."

In Alliance, city officials hope to help impacted communities

As stated, the city of Alliance is one of the communities that could fill the void after the closure. The city has its own dispatch center for police and fire, and also serves Lexington and Washington townships.

The city also has an agreement with Smith Township in Mahoning County, but Safety-Service Director Mike Dreger said Sebring Village dispatches police and fire in Smith Township − for now.

Dreger said the city could expand dispatching services into Mahoning and Columbiana counties − specifically, Smith Township, Sebring Village, North Georgetown and Homeworth − and other Stark County communities at a negotiated rate.

During Tuesday night's Alliance City Council meeting, Councilman Ed Lohnes said the city's existing system could "expand to 8 to 10 communities" when CenCom closes. Lohnes is chairman of council's Finance Committee and a member of the Safety and Judiciary Committee.

Dreger said the expansion might require the city to hire more dispatchers, but said contracts with added communities would cover those costs. The city currently has nine dispatchers.

"From my perspective, the City of Alliance has agreed to discuss potential options. However, no agreements or approvals have been made," Gladysz said in an email. "I have proposed a strategic merger, but this would require numerous processes and approvals from the City of Alliance and their officials."

Hopefully, this encourages the last few stragglers that still use analog repeaters to move to MARCS. This would make their transition to a new dispatch center much easier.

Hartville Fire testing radios on 45088 today. They are also one of the stragglers still on an analog repeater. Also, Nimishillen Twp has been simulcasting on both UHF and MARCS 45132 for some time now.

Cencom Dispatch officially closed earlier this month. Below is a list of who dispatches who now. All of the departments have moved to MARCS with the exception of Tri-Division/East Sparta being the only one that I know is still on an analog repeater. The only department that I have no information on is Marlboro Twp as I cannot reliably pick up their repeater from my house and I have not heard them on MARCS.

I did see it posted on Marlboro Twp Police Facebook page that they were going to the City of Ravenna and eventually going to MARCS but is the Fire Department doing the same?
