I began having issues with STARS on my 436 shortly before this thread was created. Quick checking and comparisons with a GRE scanner, I confirmed I was missing VSP activity. but STARS seemed alive and well... I have VDOT's safety service patrol and didn't seem to be missing any traffic from them. I deleted STARS and started all over. Pretty painful... I have radio ID's (I copied and saved them) as well as TG's in certain orders. This still didn't work- which now that I have figured out the problem, I am a little confused why this did not work.
Long story short, I was in Richmond the last couple of days. I could not pick up VSP on my FL that I normally use- where I can select the appropriate towers (ie: Richmond and Glen Allen). Of course, it received all other STARS agencies I had programmed. I had another STARS list that also I created when I began having problems, and this is location controlled... I could receive VSP with my location controlled favorites list.
Frustrated, I came home last night and looked through Sentinel, yet again. Apparently, at some point I assigned VSP a Department Quick Key. In looking at all of the information previously, nothing was Avoided. Things looked good, but the scanner was never looking at VSP because I had never turned the QK on. I removed the QK and have been hearing VSP ever since.
