are you talking about this?: "the control channel is running in ESK mode which prevents monitoring and tracking with a scanner."

State of Florida Statewide Public Safety
Motorola Type II SmartZone The Florida State Police Troopers use this system for the SouthEast areas of the State (Miami, Keys, Palm Beach, Orlando areas). This system will be going away and be replaced with the MA/COM Statewide EDACS system being implemented.
Statewide Law Enforcement Radio System

EDACS Networked Standard w/ESK The Florida State Police Troopers use this system for the SouthWest areas of the state (Tampa, Naples etc). Most of the state will be transitioning to this system in the coming year. All communications on this system use ProVoice DES encrypted communications, and the control channel is running in ESK mode which prevents monitoring and tracking with a scanner.

With all the money they're pouring into the state DPS system right now, and considering all the money they've put into the OKC EDACS system already, I don't see it happening...

I doubt it...the state didn't buy the edacs system so i doubt they will be pouring money into it too.

it was pure politics that changed the system in florida from motorola to macom. the state had spent millions on the motorola system. The state doesn't own the macom system, it is owned by macom and the state is just a paying user.

If politics get involved in OK then look out. Cost has nothing to do with it when it a political action.
